And, my condolences, too. You shouldn't have to see that Randy pic so many times.

    Glad you're here tonight.

I would second several things that Jason said here:

    1. You aren't "upgrading" from Palmolive but are simply enjoying different products. Artisan soaps and creams will provide better scent experiences and different lather, but any improvement in actual shaving performance or postshave skin feel over Palmolive will be incremental at best -- it's a quality product.

    2. American artisan soaps are commonly mentioned in the 30DC mainly because most of the members are North American so those products are most readily available. However the UK has some fabulous soap and cream makers.

    3. I have had excellent service from Connaught Shaving. I have heard nothing but positive comments about Shaving.ie and Gifts and Care.

    4. As Jason mentioned, some great UK makers are Mitchell's Wool Fat, DR Harris and Taylors of Bond Street. I have never tried DR Harris products but I think MWF is great and I absolutely love TOBS creams. Three of my favourite scents of TOBS are Avocado, Lavender and Mr. Taylor's.

I have also enjoyed creams by Geo.F.Trumper and Cyril Salter; I have never used their soaps but have seen them highly rated.

One UK artisan maker of the highest quality is Castle Forbes. It makes very dense creams that are expensive but utterly superb.

Finally the European soaps should be fairly accessible in the UK: Cella, Gold Dachs, Haslinger, Klar's, Pre de Provence and ProRaso among others.

Prep: Cold water and Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap
    Blade: vintage Personna Ultra Chrome
    Razor: Schick M1 injector
    Brush: Omega 10049 boar
    Soap: Mitchell's Wool Fat
Post: Witch hazel, Fine American Blend aftershave

TGIF, everyone! The Fat worked marvelously today as usual. Put the Schick M on 8 and swiped away the terrific lather with ease and comfort. Nice, nice shave in the end.

    Have a great day!

    August 10 SOTD:

    Razor: Gillette Fatboy
    Blade: Polsilver
    Brush: Razorock Plissoft
    Lather: Arko
Aftershave: Crown King Captain Smythe's Reserve
    Additional Care:
    Osage Rub
    Stirling Unscented PSB

It was a terrific shave this morning with the Fatboy and Arko. If I remember correctly, I think this was the first razor I used for a focus when I joined this thread. I was having trouble getting good shaves, but now it is such an easy shaver. I finished with some Captain Smythe's Reserve and am off to work. I hope everyone has a great day!
