It was even worse. One week she came of the road and asked how things had went. I told her great other than something coming up with the girls that was not on her list. Of course she asked what I had done. I replied nothing since it was not on her list naively thinking that would be the end of the list. No. No. No. the list for the next week had a daily entry to handle any item not addressed above as she would handle the item. Sadly people think I’m the control freak in our house.

I'm not sure if you were brave, or just plain dumb, with that response.
    Either way, hilarious story!

My wife traveling for work is relatively new. Once or twice a year for the last few years. Our daughter is grown but I think I would have dealt with something similar if my wife had to travel back then.

I’m glad my wife never thought of the initials box... I get text ‘lists’.

You are correct, my bad. I guess it's been so long that I've paid any attention to the "what's and where's" that I've forgotten that which I once knew. :) But it is like new.. ;)

But .. The FatBoy isn't one of my favorite razors, I'm not a fan of adjustable. I've owned several new FatBoys and thought they always felt top heavy and clunky. The mechanizm on the inside always felt loose and these were brand new razors. ;)

Well, I have to admit, the adjustable part of adjustable razors no longer appeals to me as much as it once did, but I like the razors quite a bit. The Fatboy has actually been a favorite of mine, as I like a razor with a bit of heft and tend to find myself liking shorter razors. It's too bad you don't enjoy them much. Your Executive looks to be beautiful.

I like the adjustment until I have the razor set the way I like, and then I just forget about it. I never have seen much point in fiddling with the razor settings during a shave to alter the aggressiveness for different areas. I tend to the theory that Gillette developed adjustables so one razor could be marketed that suited everybody instead of having to sell a bunch of models for different beard types. I also think Gillette marketing had gotten themselves into that particular trap earlier with the suggestion that different weights / geometries of Superspeeds were "needed" by different men - a suggestion that inevitably leads to a huge proliferation of models - and the adjustable was their way back out of it. (You will notice that Gillette has NEVER suggested that different types/weights of whatever cartridge razor is current are "necessary" or even desirable for different beard types...)

At first I didn't much like the Fatboy as it felt short and top heavy. I much preferred the Black Beauty, with the Slim somewhere in between. Later, however, I started to prefer the Fatboy for its combination of heft and short nimbleness, so you may find tastes change over time. If you really don't like your Executive, don’t feel shy about forcing one of us to relieve you of your burden... :)

I have never thought that a Fatboy mechanism felt or sounded loose inside. But that might be because all of mine have had decades to accumulate a cushioning of soap scum inside... :)

    Pol-Silver Super Iridium (2)
    30DCLE (26mm, Frigate Class)
Jeeves of Hudson Street Blood on Steel soap and AS

My morning started off like a typical Friday. Wake up, take a shower, shave! When I was done shave my wife called me over and told me she thought she was having contractions. So I stayed home to see it anything would come of them, nope after a few hours they went away. False alarm. On the plus side I was able to go with her to her regularly scheduled weekly appointment. Now on to the shave report.

Last time I used the ATT H2 it felt like a beast of a razor. Today, smooth as silk. I think my three week run of aggressive razors has gotten me use to having lots of blade feel. Very nice lather from the Jeeves and the AS even pulled a compliment from SWMBO (after things settled down). The H2 was able to prove itself as an efficient razor though as it was able to pull off the to pass BBS. I will have to revisit the Dart just to refresh my memory of my baseline. Have a great weekend everyone!

If she would only create the checklist in Excel. The dropdown for completing each item would have the following selections:

    -Quick
    -Fast
    -In a hurry

    Friday August 10 -

Gillette pre-War triangle-slot fathandled Tech / Wilkinson Sword Classic (2)
JR #267 birdseye maple and boar brush
Renaissance Fair type horn quaich lather bowl
Kent / MWF in beechwood tub
    Alum and Lucky Tiger

Inspired by James @jtface asking earlier about soaps available in the UK, I dug out my much-neglected puck of Mitchell's Wool Fat. It was dried out, shrunken and covered with a crazing of surface cracks. However, when I started to rub it with a well-soaked boar brush, it lathered up like a champ. I transferred to my bowl, added a palmful of water, and soon had a bowl and brush filled with lush, thick, lanolin-loaded lather. Some people say that MWF is difficult to lather; I have never found it so, even when the puck starts completely dried out.

After that, it was two easy passes and a touchup along my jawline for a BBS. Absolutely no heat from the alum. The Lucky Tiger topped off a great shave.

Hope everyone has an excellent weekend!

Thank you to all those that responded! It looks as though the Mitchell's Wool Fat will be my next acquisition.

I have a query about keeping soaps... Is it best to keep them sealed so that they don't dry out completely after each use?
