    August 11, 2018- Aristocrat August

    Razor: Impoverished Patrician
    Blade: Astra SP
    Brush: Razorock Plissoft 22
    Soap: Williams
    Post: Alum, Listerine, WH

The last few days have been very stressful and have not left time or much desire for shaving. Today, though, I get back on track and on theme and shave with an Aristocrat... albeit a somewhat down-on-its-heels one. Not as close as some shaves, but a DFS anyway.

I know I'm in the minority but I am not a fan of MITA. Lemon Chill is awesome though!

    Adjusting my way through August

    Palmolive Stick - mushed
    SP→2 Cypress Badger brush
    Osaka Suribachi bowl
    Cool water
    Ming Shi 2000S @ #5
    Feather Hi-Stainless blade
    Pinaud Citrus Musk EDC/AS
SOTD 08112018.gif Brought out that luxury shave stick from Germany, loaded it with the VS black badger knot from China and fitted in the cypress handle by Jack @Sparrow in Japan. Moved the Japanese Feather blade from the Fat Boy to the Chinese clone of the German razor. Gave my head a moment to stop spinning from all this world hopping, then commenced to a three pass shave. I'd settled on setting 4-1/2 but decided to up the gap. No errors, especially smooth on those lower neck trouble spots. A cool water rinse followed by a splash of French eau de cologne completed a DFS on a lazy rainy Saturday afternoon.
    Good Shaves Y'all!

Nice photo and report, Rick. The recent talk about Palmolive soap has made me want to use it as well. Maybe next week. I also find that SP2 brush of yours really cool.

Despite the extra blade feel with the F plate, does it seem any more efficient? Or just a bit more nerve wracking? I know you said that there was no noticeable difference in efficiency with the E plate.

Yeah...it'll get a new knot. I just don't know when, or which one. Kinda leaning towards a TGN knot right now - but even then have to narrow down which one gets the nod. It's a nice handle, and the feel in the hand is good. It would be a shame not to give it a new lease on life. If time permits this weekend, I'll get the Dremel busy and remove the plug and see what's what as far as opening size, etc.

Great lookin' setup, Brian! You have a long way to go to finish the MWF. A very long way.

Adjustable (Arko) Anything Goes and whatever else we decide AUGUST!!!!

    August 11

    Razor - 1959 (E1) Gillette Fatboy (9)
    Blade - [IMG] (11)
    Soap - Stirling Iced Coffee
    Brush - 30DC LE
    Post - Alum

Shaving before midnight! Getting ready to start the second shift and had time to enjoy a more leisurely and awake shave tonight. The Fatboy on 9, Personna 74 blade on its eleventh run, Stirling Iced Coffee and the LE brush. What a combo.

After thinking last night that the blade might be losing a bit of smoothness I'm happy to report that it was as smooth tonight as it usually is. I suspect last night's issues had to do with fatigue and the resulting lack of technique. However, the finish tonight is not quite BBS. Very close again, but not quite there. So, I suppose I need to allow that the sharpness is fading ever so slightly as we approach two weeks on the same blade. Considering I never go past three shaves on any blade and most give up the great shaves by 5 or 6 anyway, this thing has been nothing short of epic. It's not done by a long shot, or at least I don't think it is, but as the sharpness fades we'll see when the comfort follows. For all I know it may be in increments of three or 4 days and it may make two more weeks.

Still have to say I think Iced Coffee is my favorite Stirling scent. Iced Pineapple has a chance at getting that honor but for now I really love the coffee nights. Hope your Saturday was a good one!
