  1. Sunday afternoon August 12

Supply Co V.2 Single Edge matte black injector on plate #2 / Personna ( 1 )
30DC LE Maple Cashmere synthetic brush
Kent / MWF in beechwood tub
    Clubman VIBR

Today I started my adjustable / interchangeable injector Focus with the Supply Co. interchangeable set on the medium plate. I didn't soak the MWF beforehand, but the wooden tub lid had kept the moisture in the puck. A few swirls with the damp synthetic had a fully loaded brush ready to facepaint. Two effortless passes with the injector had me virtually BBS. I didn't apply the alum because there was no need to test for errors. Clubman VIBR doesn't seem to have many skin conditioning qualities but it certainly smells nice. (And MWF contains lanolin for conditioning anyway.)

Hope everyone has a good week. On that subject, I was finally able to walk (okay, limp) around today using only a cane rather than crutches. Not long distances -- the furthest stretch was about a half a block -- but it was measurable progress...

  2. Thanks Perry,
If you mean look for another home for the Progress? In the words of my precious "eight ball": "All signs point to 'yes'".

  5. While the shave report is great, your walking report is even better. Congrats, John.

  6. Thank you, gentlemen. After three months, being able to shed the crutches is a huge relief. I'm not going to be running races anytime soon, but the increase in mobility feels good. Even getting up and down the stairs in the house is so much easier with the cane instead of crutches.

  8. Twelve pounds in three weeks. Very nice, my friend. I do notice you waited until the meetup BBQ to make this change. Smart man you are. I have also been on the diet and exercise improvement plan, mainly at the insistence of my Doctor to get my diabetes under control and keep it there. I am down 21 pounds since May with a big chunk coming off while camping for a week. Lots of walking and a lot less eating that week helped. My exercise consists mainly of walks around my store during the dead times. I can easily get 10,000 steps in by doing three 30 minute walks. The scenery isn't much but the way I feel is much improved when I stick with that. Kudos to you for getting on the plan and sticking with it! By next year's meetup here's hoping we're both half the men we used to be!

    August 12

    Razor - 1959 (E1) Gillette Fatboy (9)
    Blade - [IMG] (12)
    Soap - Proraso Red
    Brush - BoS Omega 10066
    Post - Alum

Twelfth day on the Personna 74. The Fatty wide open on its third run with the blade. After my mini-rants about soaps and such I decided to go "classic" and even "budget classic" with the Proraso Red tub. Nice sandalwood scent and Proraso, like the other soaps in its "class", does nothing more than just produce a fine lather. Slick and protective and overall very nice. Add it to the list of soaps that, once I use them again, I find myself asking why I ever spent more on soaps. Well, anyway........

Two passes and touch ups. I'm trying to evaluate after about 30 minutes whether or not I can call BBS or not. And, if I'm still debating it I probably can't. But it's still extremely close. The shave was as smooth as ever and honestly, it's obvious the blade is still going strong. I noticed @Primotenore , who is a day ahead on his blade, made the comment that 13 is usually where it fades for him. Well his 13th was fine and mine will be tomorrow. I'm getting more and more anxious to find out how far this thing can go. Could the remaining four in my pack be enough to last a year? Ok, probably not but man this is a nice blade.

It's Monday for most of you tomorrow. Well, it is for everyone but you know what I mean. I worked a total of 10 hours today between my real job and DoorDash. Tomorrow will be a 13 hour day between beds and GrubHub. One thing is for sure - I'm rarely bored. Hope your week gets off to a good start!

  11. Thanks Neal. Kudos to you as well for the lifestyle changes you've made. You mentioned your weight loss a couple of months ago, and that encouraged me. Three 30-minute walks during the day is fantastic. Keep up the great work!
  12. It helps when it's either walk in circles or sit in a stupor from crushing boredom. Selling beds isn't exactly the busiest sales job I've ever had. But at least if you fall down you land on something soft.

    At home now, but-
Shaves at the lake this weekend:
Gillette British Aristocrat Jr w Astra (1,2)
    TGN Synthetic/ Mahogany
Proraso Green (10th), TSE Beach Bum (today)
    Thayers
    Florida Water

Nice shaves, but tough to enjoy as the weekend went along. We are burning again. Forest Fires around the area, and here is what the view looked like at the lake yesterday:

If anything, it was worse today. BTW, it was completely cloudless. For reference, here is the same part of the lake, from a little different vantage point, a week earlier:

This is two years in a row that summers have gone like this. There are evacuation alerts for some outlying communities about 20 miles away. I have to travel for work in a few days, and am not looking forward to leaving the family.
  14. Excellent, Charlie! 12 lbs is a great achievement so far.

  17. Congratulations on your healthy lifestyle choice. Losing 12 pounds in 3 weeks is bloomin' marvellous! Really well done!
One thing that I have done to improve my weight/health is to quit drinking beer at home... I dropped 5 lbs in 2 weeks with that change alone (not quite the results you have gotten though!

  18. August 13th
    Gillette Tech (Aluminium handle)
    Polsilver Super Iridium (1)
    Bluebeard Doubloon
    Palmolive
    Nivea Sensitive

Since giving up on the Merkur 34c (for now), I have reverted to my use of my Gillette Tech. In this shave I used a Polsilver for the first time... I have to say that it really didn't feel great - it wasn't massively tuggy, but it did leave my face feeling a little on the sore side... It has subsided now, but it wasn't as comfortable as other blades that I have used. I will use the blade twice more, but I anticipate that they other 4 in the pack will be getting stored away for a retry in a little while!
  19. Thanks Jason! I appreciate the encouragement. I'm very sorry about the wildfires in your area.
  20. Thanks James. I appreciate it!
