  1. What is the TTT theory an abbreviation of?
  2. Glad they caught it, Chris. Praying you feel better.

  4. I find when I bowl lather I not only have better control over the quality of the lather - especially its wetness or slickness - I also tend to use less product, because I know I will be making it in a bowl and will be able easily to see if I need more and go back to add it.

The idea that if you follow the Mantra and ride the cap / use a shallow angle, apply no pressure, and stretch your skin, you can get a good shave from absolutely any sufficiently sharp tool lubricated by any sufficiently slick lubricant. Which leads to the MayHem and Cinco de Julio attempts to shave with things like razor blades stapled to popsicle sticks or held in binder clips or to use substances such as mayonnaise for lubricant... Which, amazingly enough, mostly work without bloodshed...
  5. Chris, it's good to have you back. I'm praying this morning for your full recovery.
  6. James, that's one of those "small breakthroughs" leading to consistently better shaves. Congrats! I'm a face latherer, but all this talk of bowl lathering has me thinking about it. :)

  12. Woah....that was a close call.
Look - even though I've heard that the Great Eternal Shave Den has the absolute best hardware & software (not to mention cookies!), we're not ready to let you go there yet. So, let's maybe check in with your doc before making any changes....MmmmKay?
In all seriousness, Chris...I'm glad you're OK. Rest up and get yourself back to 100%.
  13. Ditto.

Bruce, now you've got that old international meme stuck in my head. Let's see... In Heaven, the Germans make the razors, the English make the blades, the Italians make the soap, and I'm not sure who makes the brushes. In Hell, the Soviets make the razors, the Chinese make the blades...

Someone with more experience want to help me with this?

Prep: Cold water and Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap
    Blade: Schick
    Razor: Schick H1
    Brush: JR #41 badger
Soap: Country Club for Men Cahaba Blues
Post: Witch hazel, Jeeves of Hudson Street Tobacco Bay Leaf aftershave

Excellent shave with the Tobacco Tuesday theme. The Hussy razor worked well and the soap and aftershave are a great match. I've said it here a lot and will repeat it now: These Jeeves aftershaves are the real deal. Great scents and wonderful face feel. Try one if you haven't yet!

    Have a great day!

  15. Oh my goodness, Chris. Glad you're back and sorry for what you went through. Get back to full strength soon!
  16. It sounds like you've just made the critical breakthrough on lathering -- you now know what good lather really looks and feels like so you now have a definite target to aim for instead of flailing around. Plus you have learned how much water shaving soap can actually hold so you will be less concerned about overwatering it in future and are more likely therefore to use enough. Congratulations! Your shaves will be much better going forward!

And you have managed it within six months. It took me only two or three months with the 30DC to learn that ... but that was after about 15 years of using wretched lather on my own...
  17. Nice picture and good report, Perry. I agree about the Jeeves splashes.

Glad to see the Hussy is treating you well!

    Karve E Plate

Rudy Vey Rover with TGN Finest
    Reef Point Tranquility
    Fine Lavender Aftershave

I changed out the F plate for the E plate while putting in a fresh blade. The little Rover loaded and lathered the RP Tranquility easily. I really like the cooling sensation of the peppermint in the soap. It adds to the shave on these warm humid mornings. I went with a 3 pass shave today, WTG, ATG and XTG. With touch ups along my jawline I almost had the baby. So I regathered my lower right neck and buffed it smooth easily ended in a BBS with no drama, no nicks and no irritation. Coming from the F plate down to the E plate provided a change in perspective. The F plate certainly has more blade exposure and is not as smooth as the E plate for me. I will hold off on comparing efficiency when I do a two pass shave tomorrow. A splash of Fine Lavender and I am ready for the day. I hope everyone has a great Tuesday.
  20. Great report and photo, Clint!
