That is a super cool picture, Keith! I trust you will have fun in the UK with your brother.

    NCoxSTL AAACK!

Hopefully there was enough soap to go around! No, not shaving soap. It's too precious to waste on washin' and stuff.

Great shave and write up, John. Small soap tins are fast becoming my #1 pet peeve in shaving!

Thank you, Gentlemen. Had a great shave with the same gear again today. Will change it up a bit for tomorrow’s hotel shave.

Glad you like the soap, Perry. I like to try to get a few samples out there, as I think it is an under-rated soap with a fantastic scent. If anything, I’d like to try a few more of their scents. The ‘Ester’s Peppermint & Grapefruit’ is well-known as well.

    Shave Report - Day 1

Gillette (Flat Bottom) Fat Handle Tech (Made in England)
    Astra SP (1st use)
    Bluebeard Doubloon Boar Brush
    Palmolive Shave Stick
    Nivea Sensitive Post-Shave Balm

OK, so my (new to me) Tech was collected by my dear wife this morning! I didn't really have much growth on the go, but decided that I needed a shave anyway! I took inspiration from @wchnu Ol' Fuzzy and used a washcloth to wet my face with water (in an attempt to make water application more consistent). I swirled my brush on the 'puck' for 10 seconds anti-clockwise (I'm English - deal with it) and 10 seconds clockwise. I then moved to my bowl and hydrated the lather until it became shiny and 'peaked'. I did actually perform 2 passes: the first WTG in all areas, the second was XTG on my cheeks/jawline, WTG on my neck, and ATG under my chin (otherwise it looks as though I haven't shaved there). I was careful to watch my pressure (more so on the first pass, got a touch carried away on the second), I was conscious about razor angle throughout - I was stretching my skin before each stroke to get a 'flat spot' of skin, this inevitably made things easier regarding angle!

Result: a really nice clean shave, my skin feels smooth and isn't sore! There is still some irritation on my neck, but it could well have carried over from yesterday (and other previous shaves). One thing that I did notice was that my lather had dried a little on some parts of my face, so I will hydrate a little more tomorrow!

Edit: As the 'dust' has settled, my neck still feels 'sandpapery' and there are some rough spots on my jawline, more so on the left hand side. You cannot see these rough spots though - shave looks clean (aside from under the chin which is something I'll need to work on).

Great progress. Just keep focused on the technique and the results will follow. It just takes time.

Prep: Cold water and Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap
    Blade: Schick
    Razor: Schick G4 '66' injector
    Brush: Omega 10049 boar
    Soap: Mitchell's Wool Fat
Post: Witch hazel, Fine American Blend aftershave

The Fat! I'm glad that @NCoxSTL hauled in a new puck of Mitchell's and that the love for it continues amongst the 30DC. It's a great soap. The myths that it is difficult to lather are myths only. It lathers easily. Terrific soap and I'm grateful that @Boojum1 sent me the first puck almost three years ago when I was lucky to win the new member drawing here at TSD.

Smooth shave today. The hardware worked as it should, The Fat made wonderful lather, and the American Blend finished it off in style. Can't ask for much else.

    Have a great day!

Nice report, James. You're doing well! Keep focusing on technique. One thing that I had to really work on, especially while shaving my neck, was locking my wrist. It's easy to shave your neck and move adjust your wrist as you shave, but you need to keep the angle locked. So find the angle and keep it there! Ride the cap as you're doing and things will come into focus soon enough.

Happy Friday. I am moving slow and running a little behind this morning. Not an ideal day for a new razor but it proved to be no issue at all. Two passes, ATG and XTG followed by touch ups along my jawline ended in a near perfect shave. I couldn't help myself and splashed a little water on my lower right neck and buffed it smooth. This is something only do with well proven razors and not something I would generally recommend. Another Epic shave. For a funky looking razor this thing ticks all the boxes for me. I hope everyone has a great Friday.
