    Good post Charlie.
I feel the same about the Fatboy. Excellent razor, whose head geometry is too tall for tight spaces. When I first got back into wet shaving, I had a bottle of Geo. F. Trumper's skin food as well. Sticky. I finally used it up and have moved on. If you want to get through a puck, there's no better tool than an Omega Pro knot. It'll eat it up. BTW, congrats on 10K.

To avoid dried out portions of a fully lathered face use the @Norcalnewb Baseball Lathering Pattern ©. You might do an English variation as appropriate to your local sports equipment. Lather up a zone, shave it. Then do another quarter of your shave area. No hurry to beat the drying soap!

Congrats on reaching irritation free or reduced SAS (Socially Acceptable Shave). That's the incremental improvement method that leads to the eventual Zen Shave. One day you'll do all the right things and get a perfect error free BBS and you'll wonder what you did. It won't be a conscience thing, just an alignment of proper technique performed without thought.

The Personna 74 definitely seems like it might be a case of the engineers designing too good of a product. Considering its longevity and the era in which it was produced, it might have been the last DE blade that a man would buy, both figuratively and literally.

It would be interesting to try the Injector version of this blade. Considering the fact that Injector blades last longer than DE blades to begin with, it seems like one might most or all of a month out of a single P74 blade.

Y'know, all the shave videos I've seen have led me to make a new focus-one that is probably what many shavers do anyway-and that is to begin with the cheeks&sideburns, tthen work over to the chin I used to go chin first, then proceed to cheeks. Some logic has finally come to me, and that is that I apply my cream/shavesoap on my cheeks first, then chin, then neck, thus I should shave in that same order. The neck has always been and will always be last.

Surveyupdate-we have Fatboy ahead by 4, with a three-way battle for second between More Than One, Something Else, and Cookies. Slim isn't too far behind the three-way. Toggle? No.

Thank you gentlemen. I’m at Incheon airport waiting for my flight to Amersterdam where I will change planes and fly to New Castle. My brother will pick me up and drive me to his place in Brancepeth in County Durham. It is beautiful there so I will post some pics later this week.

Did a clean up with my Joris and Persona 74 before heading to the airport, just shave 5 on this blade.

It's already been mentioned, but the irritation could easily be "carryover". But, congrats on a decent shave with your "new" razor! Keep the same setup and you'll see the shaves improve day by day. And, don't let a setback discourage you along the way. Better and faster shaves come with time - you'll get there! :)

I'll let you explain why to Paul should he have questions. Glad you have that out of your system so the you can feel the need to shave.

OK, so I'm a little confused. I assumed (default location) that you are American. If you're British I'll start reading your post in a different accent. I already do that with our neighbors to the north. eh? Doug @Douglas Carey being an exception as I assume he's previously from the U.S. but retired in Canada. He gets the R.Lee Ermey cadence. I think I've got the Southerners sorted out be they from Texas or Alabama.
Of course Paul has his own unique Bostonian slant. ;)
