There's a very simple explanation. It all goes back to how we were raised.

With the Merkur set at 5.5, I hereby declare that my August adjustable month is hereby completed.
Quite simply, there's nowhere to go. I don't want to work my way back down the scale.
I will stick with the Hendrix until it's gone.
The Merkur at 5.5 is definitely a blade gap beast. BUT, who cares?

You don't shave with the gap, you shave with the edge of the razor blade.
Got through today's shave with the Schick Krona blade...barely.
    It has been binned.
The Hendrix soap is nice. Not sure what a tub alone costs, but it might be worth checking out?

It might be a while before we see the Merkur again, so take a good look.
Because it is menthol Monday, I finished with Proraso green.
    Nice juice.

PIE charts.....of course! That is what I meant to say by "Circle Graph". Yes, and I have a condo to sell you in Iowa with a lovely view of the Pacific Ocean. :)

Since we're talking about the 30 DC and @BaylorGator, we should include a cookie chart.

Terrific photo and report, Joseph! Create a new focus.....I've done it a lot. Or choose the Unfocused Focus, which is fairly common in here as well!

A lot of great shave reports and pics already today, gentlemen!

Doug @Douglas Carey, happy to see you post again including that excellent photo!

Jason @jtspartan, the forest fires are definitely worrisome. The smoke is bad enough that our local theatre company has cancelled some outdOor performances due to air quality issues -- and we're about 1000 miles away! Too bad about Soapy Bathman: small businesses come and go all the time though. Maybe he'll reopen.

I also enjoyed today's conversation about differences between various blades and soaps and how important they are. I think both Chris @Bama Samurai and Randy @BaylorGator made excellent points. And I really appreciate how people can disagree with each other here while politely respecting opposing viewpoints.

    Monday afternoon August 20 - non-menthol Monday

    Rockwell 6s on plate #4 / Nacet ( 5)
Vlasta's prototype T-400 aluminum Rubberset copy with 24mm silvertip knot
Soapy Bathman Cup of Joe soap
Alum and Soapy Bathman Cup of Joe non-menthol balm

I used the T-400 again. More time loading than yesterday and less water in the shave bowl resulted in lather closer to the thickness I prefer. Still a bit thinner than I liked, but definitely adequate.

Two quick passes left me BBS with no squawk from Mr Alum.

Since today is Menthol Monday, I used the version of the accompanying balm with no menthol in it instead of the chilly one I used yesterday. It allowed me to judge better the actual properties of the balm: it felt a little greasy going on but sank into my skin quickly, leaving my face feeling soft and well-moisturized. It's a good balm. Soapy Bathman makes - or made - good products. (Apparently nothing is being sold out of the website right now.)

The Nacet blade still felt adequately smooth and sharp on shave #5. However, in keeping with the principles of conspicuous consumption and waste that now govern my daily shaves, I banked it anyway. Tomorrow, like a proper Shave Butterfly, I will flit on to a new setup. I will move on either to my Pal Adjustable injector or to one of my Gillette adjustable DEs; the other elements I will figure out when I get to them...

Sad, but I'm not surprised...on my last full day in Golden, I had to scurry back to the Inn because smoky air was intercepting what had been pleasant, dry air.
