    Schick S/S Twin - Japan [ 6 ]

Of the Schicks [ do not include "O" Clone ] that I use with a Twin Blade this is my favourite, and the includes
the M Adjustables. Just so easy to get a smooth trouble free Shave , which in addition to that is normally ultra close all round as was the case today. Did note that the AV like a lot of A/S I acquired in my return to proper Shaving is running low, as other A/S are too. I have to make decisions regarding replacements, the AV should be a must as it is a Classic and suits my budget too.

Jason's wooden Dry Dock shave bowl
    TOBS Mr. Taylor's shaving cream
Alum and Thayers Witch Hazel Rose Petal and Lucky Tiger

I shaved yesterday with the PAL Adjustable set on its second setting - the first mark above the "L". I got a BBS shave with two passes but was left with a fair amount of irritation. The alum was quite hot in places and I needed to use a cream balm to quieten everything down again.

Today, I dropped my PAL adjustable back down a notch to its lowest setting again. I always found that setting adequate for a smooth shave in the past, and the slightly increased setting yesterday left me with irritation for no real net gain in results. Two passes back on the lowest setting today left me near BBS. The alum did indicate some mild irritation in places, but that might well have been left over from yesterday. In any event, the sting was less today.

I expect I will continue with this razor to the end of the month.

I have some questions regarding modern SE razors. I am used to DEs and my favorite setup is a pre war tech with s Feather. I'd like a mild razor and a decently sharp blade. Would I better off getting an gem style or injector style razor, and what blades? I shave my head btw.

Either choice is a good one. Injectors might be a little easier to maintain angle as you shave your head. I'm not a head shaver so I can't speak from any experience. Injectors and SEs can vary widely from meek and mild to beasts. Depends on the model, type, and blade.

I would recommend a Schick injector with Schick Proline blade. Models G, I, J, L, and M adjustable are fairly easy to find and procure on the cheap. Personna blades are good, too, as are regular Schick 'Chick' blades. But the Proline are the sharpest of those three to me.

I probably should have written I'd like something like a RazoRock Blackhawk or similar style SE that uses the Feather and Kai blades or new Gem style SE like the PAA SE. I'm not much for wanting an old razor I can't properly disinfect. My mistake.

Well, the Black Hawk is a great razor at an easy price. Can't go wrong with that one.

The Blackland Sabre L1 is pretty mild and the Gem PTFE blades are pretty sharp.
But, there's really no logical reason behind rejecting vintage razors.

I resurrected my neglected ATT SE- G which would not work for me , I have been leant a base plate modified by a fellow Shaver who had a similar problem.
Wow it works, nice level of blade feel and shaves very smoothly, without pushing it I got a more than Satisfactory first Shave. Now this is what I expected from an ATT Razor in the first place.

My prep was just a cold water rinse. The Tabac Shaving Soap face lathered well with the Jayaruh #312 brush. I did two passes with the Supply Provision Razor with Schick Proline B20 blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Tabac AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Injector blade in that razor? Same size as related to a GEM blade? Cool!
