If you're planning on cutting down on your soap reviews, I hope you slip in your commentary on Bill Neumann&Co. I think next year sometime I'll take a big breath and order a half-pounder from them.

Still going with the long-handled Black Beauty and I’ve lost track of how many days on the Polsilver. 4, I think. Face-lathered a very nice lather, with a currant-prominent scent that I enjoy much more that I used to. Dialed the BB back to 3 and still got a shave that left me pretty darn close to smooth. I’ll probably use the BB through the rest of the week and then move on to something else for the last week of August. Finished with the Mastro Miche, which is a nice product wrapped in the worst label in wetshaving.

9! Did you find them in the wild, or buy them purposefully online? Rubberset 400s are on my short list of vintage shaving items that have me wandering into antique/2nd hand stores when I visit different towns. I don't even bother looking online at auction sites for them.

 

Great photo and write-up as usual, Joseph. I've never seen that Splash before, is it vintage? I'm a Tech fan, and don't pull out my post-war ball end nearly often enough. You mentioned that it was a lightweight- I believe, by the picture of the top cap, that yours is one of the later zamac ones. Are those the same weight as the earlier ball ends? I might go weigh my Techs tonight, as I don't believe my '51 ball-end is any lighter than my prewar fat handle.

 

Your daughter picked very well, Jim. My kids watch me take the pics sometimes, but don't seem to care to comment one way or the other.

 

I seldom do true ATG passes on my lower neck as well, Perry. My 3 passes there are WTG, XTG, XTG the other way. I can do ATG once in awhile on my lower neck, but do battle irritation and skin issues in general there.

 

Nice photo and shave, Brian! I have that scent of Pitralon and rather like it. Woodsy and cedar scent. Pretty nice.

 

Thanks for the heads up, Perry. I hope the Canadian vendors who carry Soap Commander bring in the Splash. It can be a hassle getting alcohol Splashes shipped.

 

Beautiful setting, Clint. That brush looks very nice, am I wrong or does it seem to get shown not as much as a few of your others?

 

Great photo, Jason. I find the Gillette adjustables will work to provide a good shave on almost any setting. Some settings are easier to use than others but they will all work.

My solution to my BlackBerry problem today was to use something else -- I took the photo with my digital camera, uploaded it to my desktop computer, then wrote my comment and posted my photo from there. My handy, convenient, portable PlayBook is still being a pig...

You may have recognized that tube of TOBS cream I used today ... You PIFed it to me.
