Great photo, Brian! Was the blade made in that shape originally? Or has it been ground down?

Thanks. That is the original shape. I believe this razor was made between 1800-1805. This was the style then.

Thank you, Bruce. I believe you joined here just after we hatched the plan for the 30DC brushes. I should probably get to a ‘V2’ sometime.

I've used that app successfully for years. First to drop and then to maintain. Using it right now to hit a particular weight class for a competition I hope to take part in next year.

Two of the great things about it are the online library of various foods -- even meals from specific restaurants -- and the ability to scan a bar code of something you're about to eat to log its nutritional component.

In the end though, it's like balancing a checkbook (perhaps more like staying on a budget) , you need to do it regularly and set your mind toward insisting you're going to keep it that way.

Aaahhh sigh... the ups and downs of learning a new skill ---- on one's own face!

Shave 7 was a disaster. Plenty of nicks on my neck, left side of my face (I'm right handed) irritated and erupted in some pimple like things. But that was nothing compared to my neck. Between the dots and lines from balde nicks it looked like a tic tac toe board. Still hurts a little 3 days later. Shave 6 went so well.... Oveconfidence will get you every time.

Needed to shave the day after number 7 so I fell back to my Fusion Pro Glide for number 8 but my neck was still so irritated I barely touched the blades to my whiskers on it.

Took a day off and today, I'm happy to report it seems I was able to apply the lessons from the school of hard knocks.

    - Took my time.
    - Paid extreme attention to my blade angle. I was very carful to ride just the cap as best I could.
    - Not once did I run my blade over an unlathered portion of skin.
    - Spent time the last few days analyzing the direction of beard growth and made adjustments in how I approached under my skin.

Result: Very close and irritation free shave.

    - Couple of minor tweaks to my routine that seem to have helped:
    - My neck under my adams apple is still so irritated I didn't attempt to shave it with my Black Beauty. I just ran my Fusion over it lightly.
    - 3 passes on the rest of my face *But* started on setting 3 then went to setting 5 cross grain then to setting 7 with grain.
    - Changed from Ogallala as preshave to a eucalyptus preshave oil from Maggards.
    - post shave I still did a cold water rinse then 45 seconds with an alum block * But * this time I applied some witch hazel. Then I went out, walked the dog, came back, and applied a good quality hydrating after shave.

All in all not bad. Tomorrow I think I'm going to give my face a rest again. Then. ** Ha Ha Ha ** wicked grin! I found a really nice high menthol concentration shave soap that smells like licorice! What better way to spend a Sunday!!!

Congrats on keep the weight off, Clint. I'm sorry if it was stress-related, though, due to your Dad's passing. My current weight is 260, and my target weight is 215. Once I reach my target, I'll reevaluate and go from there.

True. That's why I'm replacing it with a healthier breakfast option.

Great progress. Once the framing starts it seems to go faster. At least through getting things dried in.

Too bad about the rough shave but it sounds like you learned from your mistakes. Great shaves will come in time.
    Good luck!

Thanks Clint. The builder estimates it will be under roof in the next 4 to 6 weeks. It's finally starting to take shape.

My Dad was sick with cancer. I ate a ton of crap food while staying with him at the hospital etc and put on a lot of weight. A year or so later I made the decision to loose the weight.

Kind of funny looking back. On the day I enlisted in the Army, I didn’t meet minimum weight. So the recruiter and I walked across the street where I drank a gallon of water and ate a bunch of bananas. Back on the scales and weighed in 3/4 of a pound over minimum.
