This bay rum after shave is made locally, and I like it. It's not available all the time...but they have it now. I drive by this place every so often, so it's hard to miss. You guys are all dirty rats, rotten to the core. ;)

Thanks Andrew. That's very encouraging. It looks like I'm in for a treat.

I know you and your Bride must be very busy. Exciting times, for sure. Get some sleep, my friend.

Adjustable (Arko) Anything Goes and whatever else we decide AUGUST!!!!

    August 25

Razor - Type M Schick Injector (Wide Open)
    Blade - [IMG] (??)
    Soap - Stirling Iced Pineapple
Brush - Stirling Two Banded Synthetic
    Post - Alum

Third and final shave for the Type M this month. I switched to the Stirling Iced Pineapple and smaller synthetic and got a super lather going. Two passes and touch ups and a very nice DFS is in hand with no blood tonight. I took it a bit slower and made sure to keep pressure off. The menthol in the soap gave me a nice face freeze and the after-shave feel is smooth and really nice. The wife approves.

Six more days in August and it will be SEptember! Get those single edge razors out and ready to go! Should be another great month. As for the rest of tonight - 58 combined law enforcement agencies are running a "saturation Saturday" for drunk driving tonight. Those of us driving Uber/Lyft are expecting a busy and profitable night. Thanks cops! We owe you a donut!

Great deal. Careful on the pour, just like Dominica, the bottle has no flow restrictor. Let us know how you like it.

    Back home shave

Not often I get to shave with 40 hours of growth so I went with a big blade, Brian Brown 7/8. If was nice to have relaxing straight shave back in my home shave den. Epic results.

    Irritation A+ Closeness A+ Smoothness A+ Sharpness A+

Razor: Brian Brown 7/8 half hollow
    Strop: Dry Gulch black latigo
Brush: Handle by Jason Shavemac silver tip
    Pre: Proraso
    Soap: SMN
AS: Fine Snake Bite AS, Stirling AS
    Scent: Dior Eau Sauvage

The actions definitely are smoother. The Fatboy in particular but the Black Beauty too had a hard-shifting adjustment dial and a gritty-feeling TTO action. They almost feel slick now. The razors glide more smoothly when shaving too -- the Cerakote is slicker than metal with patches of plating loss or corrosion. I have no regrets about Cerakoting these razors, although a replate would also have been a good choice for the Fatboy and Slim. I was tossing up between a rhodium replate job or the Cerakote for them, but plating wasn't an option for the aluminum Black Beauty and in the end I decided to make them all match.

Glad you're safely home, Keith. I enjoyed the photos of the countryside around your brother's place, but that's a long flight! Great pic of some wonderful equipment. I really like the look of that Shavemac knot in Jason's handle!

Nosy question: Just how many scents or colognes do you have in your den anyway? For that matter, how many aftershaves? I also notice you often use both AS and then a scent. Do you try to match them or does the scent simply overpower whatever was used before?

    Shave Report #7

Gillette (Flat Bottom) Fat Handle Tech (Made in England)
    Astra SP (1st use)
    Bluebeard Doubloon Boar Brush
    TOBS Peppermint
    Nivea Sensitive Post-Shave Balm

I returned to my usual two pass shave today. The first pass went really well - I stretched the skin taut and really paid attention to angle and pressure. The second pass not so much - I was rushing (wife had made breakfast) and clearly didn't stretch the skin well enough and my focus and attention to the details wasn't there. I finished up with a little irritation under the jawline and probably added a little to the residual irritation on my neck,. Nothing major, but enough that I notice it.

Overall, not a bad shave, but certainly lacking the closeness of previous shaves and a touch of irritation crept in. Oh, and I got a weeper on my chin for my troubles too! There's always tomorrow!

    Enjoy your shaves gentlemen!

Sorry the shave wasn't as good as it could be. But at least now you no longer consider irritation just a normal result of shaving and when it happens you know what probably caused it. Even that is a sign of progress! And as you noted, tomorrow can be a fresh and better start.

How are you liking the TOBS Peppermint and the Almond since I think you've tried both?

Yeah, I think I am getting the feel for it more dialed in. Being more aware of the differences between good and bad technique is definitely progress!

The TOBS are both absolutely fantastic... The Peppermint has a real cooling effect on the skin as well as a delicious scent. The Almond is really rich and luxurious in its scent and feel. I think the Peppermint just edges it for me, but both are outstanding creams (I have the bowls for the record)!

Sorry the shave was not as good as it you expected. Knowing what you did wrong is progress as well.

I am not a Bay Rum fan. I ordered a B&M soap and AS when the hurricane wiped out much of the bay leaves in the Caribbean and B&M announced the would discontinue it indefinitely until the trees recover. Bit of a knee jerk reaction on my part. I will probably never use the AS, and the soap is sitting untouched while I ponder the problem too many soaps in the den. If one of you Bay Rum crazies is dying to get your hands on some currently unobtanium B&M, you now know who to PM.

I has a great time and escaped the hear too, well worth the long flight and 5 hour layover.

I will just say I have more than 50 colognes, and less than 10 after shares. Most AS fades very quickly on me so they do not interfere with the cologne. Sometimes I like to match the scent.

The brush has become my favorite.

With my shave this morning, the first pass didn't appear to do well. Thus for the second, I combined WTG with A(gainst)TG, and it got a little better. One thing that pleased me was how sudsy the CF soap got.
