Thank you and right back at you! Gorgeous Williams! And I was able to snag #263 once I saw what you commissioned... awesome wood choices Scott, and of course Jim's normal great work!
User grade Hayashi Diamond, SMN lathered with my Tulip 2 travel brush and finished off with a shot of Myrsol Plastic. Cheers, Steve
Nice razor Randy!!! Is this the first post of one of your straights in this thread??? If so - awesome kickoff!
Greetings Kind Sirs: I just happened to notice both of you had recent shaves incorporating Myrsol products. These are products I am not familiar with. If you (or others) would be so kind as to share the benefits of your experiences, I'd love to hear them. Thanks.
I hadn’t thought about it, Tom, but I guess I’ve been lurking on this thread for such a long time that I didn’t realize it probably is my first post. Thanks!
I have been using the myrsol once a week for over a year and a half, very little goes a long way. The benefits that I’ve found is it tightens up, cools and moisturizes my skin really well. It can be used pre or post shave, I use it post shave. One of the other benefits is any weepers are almost instantly stopped. It has a light scent of floral and baby powder with a touch of menthol. The only drawback is that if you use too much there can be some eye irritation. I had gotten this bottle in a free drawing on another forum, when it finally runs out I will be purchasing another. Well worth the $32 for a new bottle imho.
Myrsol are Spanish products of high quality. The aftershaves are legendary. The Emulsion balm is especially well thought of and performs as well as products costing much more. All of the aftershave splashes except for the Agua Balsamica contain menthol to varying degrees though I can't feel it in the Metilsol (contains alum). My favorites ar Agua Balsamica and Plastic. All of the splashes are alcohol based. They are a family-run business. Their products are expensive here because of the crystal glass bottles and shipping, but you can buy 1 liter refills from Gifts and Care for around $22. The crystal bottles are wet shaving icons! Here's a thread over at Shaving Room that may help. https://theshavingroom.co.uk/community/index.php?threads/myrsol-flavours.19386/
Here's a little more detailed info on the ingredients. The number is the INCI order. This chart/image appears in many places so I'm not sure who to credit, but whoever you are, thank you! Also, you can get samples from Maggards. Cheers, Steve
Today's shave was with an old Pipe Razor, Wedge. I had a smooth and silent 2 pass shave, that left me near BBS. No touch-ups, zero issues. Big heavy razor, with original scales, possibly turtle shell. Razor- Geo.Wostenholm. Pipe Razor. Sheffield. Brush- JR#262, Silvertip knot. Soap- Arko/Sandalwood scented Aftershave- Shulton Old Spice ...
I have an affinity for George Wostenholm "Pipe Razors", and Wade & Butcher "Bow Razors". They are unique, and shave very very well.
