    Wow. Definite progress.

Shave number 10 is entirely irritation free and everything above my jawline is excellently smooth. Amazingly, first time this has happened, when I applied my alum block there was relatively little sting.

As discussed I left the adjustment on my Black Beauty alone. Pre shave I did however move it back to 5 from 3. Three passes above my neck: With, Cross and Against the grain. This was on a 24 hour beard.

Nice and slow, resolute focus on never shaving over unlathered areas, focus and concentration on blade angle.

My neck area only got 2 light passes. I've shaved closer under there but it's acceptable and most importantly the irritated areas from last week continue to heal.

Feeling pretty good about this endeavor again.

    Here's my list of gear:

    Black Beauty
Astra Platinum Blade (shave number 2)
Ogalla Sandalwood / Bay Rum as a pre-shave
    B&M Spice shave soap
    Alum block
    B&M Aftershave

Awesome report! Stick with it without changing anything up and it will continue to get better and better. Once muscle memory is engrained, it’s a whole new world.

Thanks to all you guys. Seriously doubt I'd have made it this far without you all.

Try using the code FREESAMPLE to get free shipping. Let me know if it works.

I just tried it, and it worked for me. A sample is on its way.

This was supposed to be my set up this morning. First use of this soap I picked up at a craft fair a few weeks ago. I usually avoid these one off soaps like the plague, but for $6, I thought ‘Why not?’, and at the very least I would have a pleasantly scented shower soap. It is Peppermint and Tea Tree, and on the puck, I thought Reserve Cool may be a decent pairing.
I loaded quite a bit of product on the brush, almost ‘supergoop’ style and then took it to the bowl as I usually do with new to me soaps. It was airy and bubbly from the start, and no amount of water seemed to matter. I ditched the bowl and though I’d try it right on the face. Again, it looked good loading, but it just looked like weak, airy lather on the face. I thought I’d give it a go anyway as sometimes looks can be deceiving, but alas, that wasn’t the case. It had no redeemable qualities besides a pleasant scent. Didn’t even get one cheek done before I abandoned ship. The only other soap I couldn’t lather at all was the reformulated C & E Sandalwood a few years ago (off topic, but the older C&E was awesome). I disliked Prohibition Style last year as it was a lot of work, but at least I got a lather that was functional. This was awful. Straight to the shower with this one, I’m not even going to bother trying again.

What to grab in a pinch? Well, with all the talk about it, I grabbed a Bay Rum, in this case one by Stirling. If the brush looks wet, it is because I took the pic right after the shave as it obviously wasn’t planned.
Loaded like a dream and 3 awesome passes laid waste to 50 hours of stubble. I don’t use Feathers very often, but they are great blades, no question. I changed up the AS, and thought the Blood on Steel may go ok with the soap, and I wasn’t wrong.
    Have a great day all!
