Felt like experimenting. Made a shim (well 7 actually) and gave it a whirl! 7 feathers is approximately .032" or one full turn out. Oh my! Really wakes the old dog up. Stupid close but so much milder feeling.

Thanks! It's a variation on my "White Shave Kit". I haven't used this set nearly as much as it deserves.

    SHAVE OF THE DAY

Prep: Occams Crushed Like Pre Shave Soap
Razor: Icon X3 head, Gillette Ball End Tech
    Blade: Gillette Rubie
    Brush: Razorock Plissoft
Soap: Noble Otter Noir Et Vanille
    Post: Soap Commander Fortitude balm

Excellent shsve this morning. Super thick lather from NO soap and the scent is a perfect black tea/ citrus that would make a intoxicating cologne IMO. Lather held a boat load of water and loved every drop of it. Finished off with Fortitude balm which paired well with the soap and felt nice and soothing.

    YESTERDAY'S SHAVE

Prep: Occams Crushed Lime pre shave soap, shower with Smitten Soapery Mr. Cool bath soap (sample)
Razor: Icon X3 head, Gillette Ball End Tech handle
    Blade: Gillette Rubie
    Brush: Razorock Plissoft
Soap: Wild West James & Artemus
    Post: SC Fortitude balm

Was in a bit of a rush since we had to hurry up and go to the Yankee Air Museum for the air show. Everyone had a blast and the weather was perfect.

As for the shave, since it was a bit rushed there was room for improvment. Scent of James & Artemus is hard to describe, masculine rose burbon that is both sweet and a bit spicy to my nose. Wild West has some amazing scents with rose notes IMO (Wichita, J&A, Rose Dunn) and are not your typical floral rose scents. Smeared a dab in the bottom of the red lathering bowl aquired from the thrift store for 14 cents (still can't believe it) and the lather started out a bit runny as a result of not shaking brush out enough. Did develop some thickness over time, but due to the circumstances it was no match for the abuse it went through. Threw on some Fortitude balm to help soothe my tender skin. They can't all be winners. Hope everyone is in good health and having enjoyable shaves!

Adjustable (Arko) Anything Goes and whatever else we decide AUGUST!!!!

    August 26

    Razor - Soviet Consul (9)
    Blade - [IMG] (1)
    Soap - Stirling Bay Rum
    Brush - Jayaruh #54
    Post - Alum

Back to the Consul for three shaves as we make our way to the end of Adjustable August. I grabbed a Sharp Star blade since I have far too many of this terrible, horrible, really awful blade. Again, if you have any please send them to Cartel HQ for disposal. I don't want anyone else to suffer! Stirling Bay Rum with the JR54 for a really beautiful lather. I do love the traditional Bay Rum scent. More and more.

The consul on 9 is definitely in beast category. More aggressive than a Gillette but still very manageable. Two passes and touch ups and the baby is in the house, though the alum was slightly warm. I'm tired, though, and rushing a bit which seems to be a bad habit I'm growing as I work more hours. I need to rediscover some of the Zen mentality when I get ready to shave. Still, no issues to really worry about and it was a great way to end the day.

Hope everyone had a great weekend! Next weekend is, of course, a holiday weekend as we begin SEptember. Hope you will have lots to do to wrap up summer with some fun!
