I received this too, Charlie....Too early for me to do anything about it of course(NB18freak), but I'd like to include a Maggard product or two into my purchases next year.

Thank you, Clint! It is a nice razor, especially if you like some heft to your razors.

Nice insight, Randy. That's interesting. In the very brief time I tried straights (used one maybe six times) I couldn't find any grip or way to hold it to shave my neck effectively. So I just stuck to my upper face and shaved the neck with a safety razor. I didn't give it enough time, obviously, but could see the neck would be a long term challenge. This little tidbit might make a little difference then next I try it.

I had to check my previous SOTD to see when I'd last shaved. Five days? Not a "beard", but way passed scruffy. Between G-kids under foot, and mom taking a trip to Dallas leaving me to keep an eye on dad, I'm just not getting in my every-other-day shaves. So I shuffled through my gear and decided to treat myself to an apple pie scented experience. The synthetic knot from APShaveCo doesn't need soaking to soften. It got a dip in the suribachi bowl that does like a splash of water to moisten up. Couple drips of water on the puck to bring up the scent and soften the surface prior to loading. With plenty of stubble, I moved the DE blade from the #195 to the Futur clone. I'd settled at 4-1/2 for my comfort zone but been experimenting with the slightly higher numbers lately. Quick easy load of the brush, to the unglazed textured bowl to build lather, and applied to enjoy the cinnamony aroma. First pass generally WTG proved effective and I considered stopping there to see how well the increased gap was doing. Nope, too much lather in the bowl. I ended up doing ATG, WTG, and another full WTG. Didn't really need the touch ups on problem spots but the lather was feeling fine and smelling good. With nary a nick, and no blood in sight a rinse proved my suspicions. I'm on my way to using this razor at wide open for DFS+. A splash of AS to continue the scent and I'm happy.
    Good Shaves Y'all!

Great photo and lineup Rick. Good to see you found the time for a shave and post. I can only imagine how busy you are.

Pulled out some faves for 'Tobacco Tuesday'. The fact that I shaved and was out of the house at 6:30 before my wife was out of bed had nothing to do with my soap choice... Anyway, had a quick, routine 3 passer. I wouldn't say that I'm completely smooth, but still a darn fine shave. I think I'll change up the gear again tomorrow for the last 3 shaves of the month.
    Have a great day all!

Thanks Clint. I'm rolling with the changes. Was calling myself "semi-retired" which meant I was working enough to keep my bills paid. I'm now spending less time on the clock, but so much more activities that fill my days.

Sounds like a great shave is what you needed for sure, Rick! Congrats on getting that razor dialed in 'wide open' and on that cool pic...your filter and colours make it look like the brush and soap/splash labels match perfectly.

Sorry to hear about your night, Clint. Yes, hopefully it is just a quick bug and not connected to any recurring issues. Interesting review on the newer Proraso creams. The yellow label one (wood and spice maybe?) is at our local drugstore in everything (beard stuff, preshave, balm etc.) besides cream, or I probably would have already grabbed it. Having to buy a big 'barber's bag' is probably a deterrent.

@Screwtape, We wanted to get established as a shaving company before adding knives to the site. I love knives and know a lot about them and enjoy making them. Knives are a little different than razors in that the way someone will use the knife impacts the best size, design and steel used. I will get some pics put together in the next couple of days and be back in touch.
