    Thanks Perry!

This company makes the biggest soaps I ever saw in my life. They're 250 grams!

What better way for a gentleman to start his day than a nice leisurely shave?

I found myself in Mumbai, India with a few hours to spare on this fine 29th August morning. Given my new “travel light” policy I had with me only the following:-
    • Razor A DE - Merkur Futur
    • Blade A single Feather Hi-Stainless
    • Brush Kent H12
    • Soap Small pot of TOBS Avocado
    • Bowl A $2 bowl from Franc Franc

First lets look at the razor. There is little doubt that the mercer Futur is one of the best available mass produced DE razors. It is fully adjustable from a full crop trimmer (#6) down to a feather duster (#1) and all points between. I had shaved two days ago so a #3 was my setting of the day. It is a smooth matte finished razor, all stainless and easy to take apart for cleaning. I took the opportunity to take mine apart and give it a thorough wash and dry after I completed my shave. Some say the head on a Merkur Futur is too big to get under the nose properly - personally, I don’t find that at all. Be careful when adjusting the setting that you don’t cut your fingers on the blade - grip the head by the short edges and adjust the handle with your other hand - well away from the blade.

Now the brush (disclaimer: I DO NOT sell this brush and have no association with Kent Brushes). The Kent H12 - is a mock horn handled brush with a massive 31mm knot. It is a beast and lathers like a dream. A good loft, medium backbone and pillowy soft gel tips. It is a fantastic brush to shave with and it went to work on the soap in no time at all. If you can get a Kent brush - do so!! I am lucky this was bought for me by my sister as a Christmas present last year. She lives about a mile from the Kent factory!! One day I am going to have to go in and see if I can get a tour of the workshops.

Feather Hi-Stainless - what else can I say except that these blades are the bomb - aces high. Don’t buy anything else and give your face a treat. Easily the sharpest and best blades on the block

The soap - TOBS Avocado - brought a blob of the Taylors of Old Bond Street avocado soap in a small container - enough for my week away - 2 shaves worth. This soap is great, has a nice vegetal small with, to my nose, overtones of cucumber. It lathers like a dream and is super slick. When I get a new razor to try this is always my go to soap because it has consistent performance and is super slick.

The bowl - a nice, textured, bowl from a store called Franc Franc in Hong Kong. Nothing fancy, does not matter if I forget or break it and it just works. A serious lather bowl for 2 bucks! What is not to like?

The shave - a nice 2 pass WTG then ATG. A touch up across the wattles as pass # 2.5 and finished. BBS and happy for the day. Hot rinse, cold rinse and out!! No burn, no drama. And light…

    It's a Williams Week!!! (Day 3)

    Schick M1 Adjustable razor
    Personna blade
    FS Silver Tip brush
    Williams SS
    Osage Rub/Witch Hazel w/aloe
    Clubman Reserve Gent's Gin A/S

Well, this shave didn't work well especially when your wife is next to you and let's out a scream that startles the crap out of you. Got a good nick out of that. The scream? She was watching Dr Oz and they showed a women giving birth in her car on the way to the hospital. Very graphic! Anyway the shave is done, I stopped bleeding and all is well I reckon. Now go enjoy your day folks.

    Razor: Gillette Guard
Blade: Gillette Single Blade Cart. (3)
    Lather: Neutrogena Shave Cream
    AS: Mennen AFTA/ Old Spice
    Dog: ???
    Newspaper Date: Dec. 6,1943

I was going to use the `Leaf`, with just 2 blades, but my face was too sore, so I opted for my `Go To` Gillette Guard. With 2 passes, WTG/ATG and hardly any touch ups, i got really close to a BBS, no irritations. I think I`ll let my face heal a couple days before I try the Leaf again. My Personna Floating Head, Trac II and the Gillette Guard all guarantee a flat surface against my skin, I don`t think you can change the proper angle , even if you wanted. On the other hand, the Leaf, OneBlade Core, and Italian Focus just pivots, you still must search, or maintain `The Angle` on every stroke. No can do for me. God go with each of you.

    Bill

    Awesome SOTD tonight.

    Rooney 1/3 Silvertip
    Fitjar Slatteroy Cream
Asylum Evolution XL Brass with a Perma Sharp blade
    Sweyn Forkbeard Pre-Shave Oil
    Handmade Soap Co ASB

This was my first use of the Slatteroy and the Asylum Evo XL and neither disappointed.

Gobs of very thick lather from the cream (with very little product used) and a great shave from the razor.

The extra length of the handle worked better for me than using the Stainless Steel model and whilst the blade centring issue is still present, it is very easy to correct.

Both of these products are most definitely keepers.

    Prep: pre shave soap mix
    Razor: Wilkinson Sword Classic
    Blade: Wilkinson Sword
    Brush: Yaqi 26mm synthetic
    Soap: MER Shaving Barbershop
    Post: Mickey Lee Kraken milk

Nice soothing shave yesterday. Thick lather from the MER and the scent is a boozy barbershop that is pretty unique as far as barbershop scents go. lather protected from any irritation and provided plenty of slickness. Finished off with Kraken milk.

    20180829_114906.jpg

PREP: SHOWER WITH SILISKI SOAPS FLORAL BOUQUET BODY BAR
    RAZOR: WILKINSON SWORD CLASSIC
    BLADE: WILKINSON SWORD
    BRUSH: YAQI 26MM SYNTHETIC
    SOAP: STIRLING BRITISH LEATHER
POST: OGALLALA LIME & PEOPERCIRN A/S

Had a pretty rough shave this afternoon, neither a alum block or steptic pencil would stop the bloodflow. Lots of nicks and irritation. The lather was a comsistancy similar to MW in that it was creamy and had that heavy tallow quality. Scent is quite nice and is a musty leather. Despite the great lather, the shave was less that stellar. Finished off with Ogallala Lime which burned like wildfire. Hope everyone had better results!
