Neat idea to "create" your own ultimate shaver. Glad the first round worked out well. :happy088:

Thanks, Clint! Knowing why there was blood, and accepting responsibility is more important than the blood itself. :D

Now I'm sure you meant the Toggle is the original Gillette adjustable ... Gillette was a couple decades late to the adjustable game (discounting the Single Ring as not being a genuine adjustable).

Good point. I know my Wilkinson Sword razors with the wedge blades and stropping function, for example, have fully adjustable guards. I'm not sure if they started being made pre-WW1 but they were definitely around by the 20s.

    Gillette Fatboy on #5 / Nacet ( 5 )
    Simpsons CH2 Synthetic Bristle
    Fendrihan Lavender Sandalwood soap sample
Alum and TSD Milk Aftershave Lavender Sandalwood mix

Simple easy two pass shave today. First pass seemed to tug a little so I dumped the blade after the shave. No irritation though. The milk aftershave left my face feeling well tended.

I see I have some research to do -- I know nothing about the mechanisms of most of those. :(

Another early morning shave, afternoon post. I changed up the razor and blade this morning and pulled out the Canadian LC and as a nod to our blade czar @NCoxSTL, the Sharp Star (Moscow's best?). I was fairly rushed early this morning, but did slow down enough for a relaxing 2 passes plus a little touch up. Love this soap and love this razor. Everything performed as it should and I was out the door to drive out of town for a morning meeting. I'll use this razor/blade combo for the last few shaves of the month, I believe.
    Have a great day all!

    Shave Report #10

Gillette (Flat Bottom) Fat Handle Tech (Made in England)
    Astra SP (1st use)
    Bluebeard Doubloon Boar Brush
    TOBS Almond
    Nivea Sensitive Post-Shave Balm

Another good shave today. 2 passes (WTG/XTG) and some touch up under the chin (XTG/ATG). Really liking how my shaves are starting to feel. My face is feeling consistently smoother after each shave! I got a little carried away with the pressure on my second pass I think... Maybe a touch of overconfidence creeping in from yesterday, who knows? A tiny bit of irritation, nothing overly visible though - I can just feel a slight burn. I will also add that my 2 best shaves to date have been with the TOBS Peppermint... It might be time to focus on using that for a few shaves straight to see if it makes any difference (I have been alternating them up to this point)!

    Enjoy your shaves gents!

I really need to up the game with taking SOTD pictures, but the time it takes me to strop and shave with a straight is pressing me for time in the mornings. The good news is the shaves continue to improve. A bit more vigorous skin stretching had me BBS from the jawline up. As for the neck... still not so much. My results on the neck definitely improved by utilizing @Keithmax's skin/cheek stretching suggestion along with focusing on the 1" section of the blade that is cutting whiskers. As a result, I think it's just going to take some experimenting with blade angles and skin stretching techniques in order to prevail on my pesky neck stubble. My week early September focus with the straights continues...
