    What Randy @BaylorGator said.

One thing: I have all three Gillette adjustables and find that while the weight of the razors is different and the Fatboy head is a bit thicker than the others, the adjustments match across all three nearly perfectly. The aggressiveness of a #3 on the adjustment dial of my Fatboy is exactly the same as #3 on my Black Beauty, etc. So if you want to shave with each razor to compare them, set them all at the same setting and the only real difference between them will be the weight and balance. Then pick one and stick with it for the month.

Great photo and report, Joseph. I have noticed that the Red Tub Cella cream has a much stronger scent than the more puttylike Cella Brick. I may have to try adding menthol to one of my bottles of Florida Water now...

Lovely photo, Jim. And great to hear that you have now reached the point where you expect good shaves as a matter of routine! Well done!

Thank you John. The Florida Water is so cheap, you can have one with and one without menthol.

Keep that Moscow's best talk quiet sir. We don't want anyone to think they are good. They are horrible. Terrible. No longer in production, only made one year and I only have 900 in stash. Until I load a few hundred more in there I don't want to give away the secret. Shhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!! :scared003:

Ok, in all seriousness, yes. I would rank the Sharp Star as the best to come out of Mostochlegmash. Seriously good.

Adjustable (Arko) Anything Goes and whatever else we decide AUGUST!!!!

    August 29

    Razor - 1960 (F4) Gillette Toggle (9)
    Blade - ladas-super-stainless.jpg (1)
    Soap - Arko
Brush - Stirling Old Style Synthetic
    Post - Alum

I mentioned last night I was debating between the Qshave (for its absolute over the top gap size on setting Me) and the Toggle for the final three shaves. Several of you spoke up in favor of the Toggle. True, as the first real adjustable from Gillette it is unique and rare and definitely deserves the honor. I bow to your wisdom. I am pairing it with the Ladas. A top five Moscow blade that doesn't get enough time in my razors.

Arko to finish the month as well since that is the secondary theme. The big Stirling brush made easy work of the lather. No problem at all as usual. And the Toggle on 9 was as efficient as ever. Very nice two pass and touch up shave for the baby in the house and another long day is in the books. Seems like August has passed by way too quickly. These adjustables have all been great and fun as well and I'll miss them when we move to SEptember.

Doctor appointment in 9 hours, which means I ate dinner just in time to allow time for fasting like I am supposed to. Love it when a plan comes together. Have a great night....oops....morning now....and a better rest of today! (There's that pesky time warp again)

I assumed that the two TOBS creams would share identical properties... How naive!

Check out AliExpress for ordering them in bulk at low costs!

Nice acquisitions! Nigh on impossible to get those razors over here without paying a king's ransom! Enjoy whatever you choose!

    Not naive at all.

You can normally interchange soaps or creams made by the same maker quite freely without changing anything, as long as the products are made on the same soap base. Only the scent changes but not the shaving qualities. As far as I know, TOBS creams are all made on the same base, so you should be able to interchange them. The one caveat is that peppermint does have a slight cooling effect itself much like menthol, so there will be that slight difference between it and your Almond. However the way it lathers and the protective qualities it brings to the shave will be identical.

In short, if you want to switch off between a couple TOBS creams during the month, go ahead -- it won't impact the mechanics of your Rule. Switching between a TOBS and a Salter or Trumper cream though -- no.

NB: That applies to TOBS standard creams. They have a couple new "premium" lines that I think use different formulations -- the Platinum Collection and some they call something like the Piccadilly Street line. Switching to those would be adding a new variable to your shave.

Ahh ok... Maybe the Peppermint has a kind of menthol thing going on? I like the cooling! Might be a menthol guy :Animatedfrozensmily:

One option for occasional menthol use is to add a bit of menthol to your lather bowl or to your brush just before face lathering, or to the splash in your hand before applying it. This lets you turn any soap, cream or aftershave splash into a menthol version whenever you want. Some people buy menthol crystals somewhere and grind them up and add them. Or you can get a liquid version that's already prepared. The TSD Shop sells one called M-Bomb that's quite popular -- I use it myself. (It also sells nice little sample tubs of several creams, including several by TOBS, Trumper and Salter. A great way to try on a small scale... ;) )

Never mind detecting a hint of menthol... I detect a not-so-subtle hint of enabling!
