September 1, 2018 Gem Damaskeene Gem PTFE Simpson CH2 Synthetic AOS Ocean Kelp Shave Cream Grand Bay Bay Rum
Starting Monday, I will be using my Schick J Golden 500 sawed off razor with 45 ACP Cartridge end. I had originally thought the handle longer than I liked, so I cut it off to make it the same length as a G. That proved to be too short for my liking. I tried to think of ways to make the handle longer and thought that a 45 ACP cartridge just might do the trick. I got a few from @Redfisher and here is the result. It feels just right.
So glad that you started this thread amigo! I plan to use mainly SEs this month. The Generals, Cobras, Sabre, and Occam's Nano will see increased use, however some DEs will be used on weekends. Have fun everyone!
SOTD September 1, 2018 A Stirling SEptember Prep: Cold water and Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap Blade: GEM PTFE Razor: GEM G-Bar Brush: JR #142 black badger Soap: Stirling Piacenza Post: Witch hazel, Stirling Piacenza aftershave Really enjoy the G-Bar. Smooth shaving. Bright and shiny but with nice heft and weight. It works quite well for me and today was no exception. Clean shave in two passes. Have a great day!
Razor: Ever-Ready SE w/case 2 Blade Banks and original instructions 1914 Blade: GEM Brush: 30DC w/LS (MS) 2 Band Finest Soap: Sterling Cool A/S: Sterling Executive Man Balm For an old razor this shaves beautifully. I get excellent feed back from the blade, however, it can be a little difficult in tight places. The 30DC brush is fantastic. I'm very happy I installed the LS (MS) 2 Band knot.
Straight razor focus here; looking to improve my skills removing pesky neck stubble. The Hart Steel 6/8 performed well as always, as I love the extra weight it brings to the party. I may try and use it exclusively until the custom Bismarck arrives later in the month. I’m also experimenting a bit with using my right hand in more areas rather than splitting duties equally between right and left. The neck continues to confound a bit, but I’ll keep hacking away at it.
what a coincidence this morning I was like hey I haven't shaved with Gem in a while so I put aside the DE razor and left the Micromatic Clogpruf in the bathroom with still wrapped PTFE blade. Didn't even occurred me that is 1st September
Thanks very much Andrew. There is a red stamp on the instructions that states new blades are available at the Canteen.
