John, if the PAl blade you got from try a blade has PAL on the spine it's not a shaving blade it's an industrial blade. All of the CS blades meant for shaving will have 009 stamped on the spine. I ordered several hundred CS Gem and Pal blades from Ted Pella not knowing that and they aren't worth a lick for shaving.

    NCoxSTL AAACK!

    SEptember is a Stirling month!

September 2 (Time warping again here people - it's my newest hobby)

Razor - Gem Micromatic Clog Pruf
Blade - CVS Carbon SE (3)
    Soap - Stirling Barbership
Brush - Stirling Two Banded Synthetic
    Finish - Alum

Third day on the Clog Pruf and, dare I say, I think I'm making progress. Once again I remembered to keep the pressure off by either holding at the end of the handle and just letting the head of the razor work, or in close work, holding it just under the head and allowing gravity to do the work with no extra grip or pressure. The carbon blade is still nice and smooth and doing a good job. Two passes and touch ups and I'm at a high DFS which is just fine. Alum was nearly quiet tonight so I'm getting closer to where I want to be. This razor really brings the blade to bear, much like it's open comb cousin, so the learning curve isn't terribly steep. I had just expected a milder experience to start and paid the price the first shave. A couple more and I think I can claim this razor, if not mastered, at least learned.

Stirling Barbershop and synthetic brush for another superb lather win. I noticed today (ok, so my wife noticed and told me) that Stirling will be in town for an event in October. I plan to take it in and meet Rod in person. Should be fun.

Hope you all had a wonderful Labor Day. I think we may have set a new store record for sales on Labor Day today. If we didn't we got very close. I'm in for the night so will be doing some catching up around here. Have a great night!

    A Stirling SEptember

Prep: Cold water and Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap
    Blade: GEM PTFE
    Razor: GEM Pushbutton
    Brush: Zenith B02 boar
    Soap: Stirling The Lounge
Post: Witch hazel, Stirling Baker Street aftershave

Today's soap is The Lounge, a green tobacco scent. This was a limited release about a year ago and I grabbed up a puck. Nice, strong green tobacco scent (not a smoke or humidor scent). Great lather as you'd expect and a juniper infused finish from the Baker Street splash. Top notch shave all around.

    Have a great day!

    Tobacco Tuesday!

Good morning! For the first time wet shaving I did a before work shave. I got up fifteen minutes earlier and enjoyed a two pass with light touch up, DFS. Excellent shave! I'm supposed to be clean shaven as a part of my job. There's actually a diagram showing where facial hair is allowed. Moustache can't extend past the corners of the mouth and sideburns can't go past the ears. I have to work in supplied air on occasion which is why there is a facial hair policy. I could get away with shaving once a week if I did it on Monday morning and it was a four day work week.
Long story short, I shaved this morning.

    Have a great day!

I really enjoyed the 3 day weekend. So much so that I actually overslept this morning. Even so, I was able to get in a near perfect 3 pass shave. My lower right neck proved to be my nemesis yet again. A splash of the wonderful Dominica Bay Rum and I am ready for the day. I hope everyone has a great Tuesday.
