fairly new, I mean about a year or more straight razor shaving. I got my first straight.... Oh man I guess about 2 years ago and gssixgun honed it for me for a birthday straight shave. I shaved with it about 2 times a month at first. Still has an excellent edge on it. but about a year ago or a little more I started buying more razors. trying out different grinds, points, and manufacturers. I found that I like Wade & Butchers a lot, both the hollow and wedge grinds. One razor I want to try out is a Filarmonica razor that's one on my list but there so dang expensive for a good one. I've been looking at 14's and 13's, preferably a 14. My ones I've bought and posted on here most have been in the 30-50 range. My max for a razor has been about $100, hence no Filli yet. Much thanks for your offer though. Looks like I'm slowly converting over from DE to SR shaving.

@DaltonGang's Wade & Butcher restore project inspired me to try one myself, so I just won the bid on this smiling razor with broken scales. This should keep me out of trouble for a while...

Looks half way done already. :D.
Make sure you save the wedge, and the good half of the scales. You might need them, down the road.

Good thought. I'm thinking of leaving the patina as is, but haven't decided yet. Also, any tips from your first project are much appreciated.

Yeah, save the good parts and all the duds with usable scales - I call this collection 'the scale pail'.

    Cheers, Steve

Only advise I can give, is take your time, for the first time. Measure twice, cut once.

Well the Wade & Butcher celebrated fine India steel razor just arrived and the blade is beautiful. BUT.... the horn scales are severely warped to the point I don't know if they can be saved or it will have to be rescaled. I will try to post pics later.

    "Sheffield Steel"
    12/16th+ inch

That is all the markings on it. I paid a little more than usual, $12.95, but the blade looks almost flawless, except for a little tarnish. I'm not crazy about the flat plastic scales, so that's up in the air.

Any recommendations on someone to re scale the W&B, I'm just learning to hone, I can tighten pins. To make new scales is not something I'm ready for yet.
