A solid shave today. Took 3 passes plus some touch ups for a near BBS finish. The Proline delivers but, the issue is the Hawk where it just doesn’t feel as efficient and blade exposure is very light. It’s a different story with a Feather Pro Super in it but, it makes you work just a bit more without that particular blade to amp things up. Still, a good shave. Have a great day and smooth shaves Gents... ;)

Not bad actually. A citrus forward scent that’s not overpowering. Performance is above average with a good lather, cushion and glide. It’s decent.....:)

    Razor: Gillette Atra Handle
Cartridge: Western Family Trac ll (2)
    Shave Cream: Neutrogena
    Dog: Old Foggies Antique Shop

With a 2 pass, WTG/ATG and some touch up, I think I achieved just about the best shave I can remember (near perfect). I`ve been using generic carts for awhile and getting sub standard but not bad shaves. Just ordered some Personna carts, see if they are as good as the Western Family. God Bless.

  14. Today's shave was with a Japanese "Rat Razor". It may look rough, but it shaves smooooooth, leaving BBS results. I love these old Japanese Blades.

    Great SOTD tonight.

Stirling Pharaoh’s Dreamsicle and DRH Windsor Uber Lather
    BBA Pre-Shave Oil
    Extro Espezial AS Balm
    Voskhod blade

I had an interesting first shave with the Rex.

I found settings of 2 and 2.5 to be somewhat harsh on my face, and it certainly felt as though it was tugging at my 2 day old stubble.

I dialled it down to 1.5 for my second pass and things improved significantly. It started to feel much smoother.

I rarely do a third pass and decided to try this at 1. Everything slotted together very nicely on this pass. It felt like a Timeless in terms of smoothness and the drag whilst present was not unpleasant (it felt a bit like an oxidised Blackbird in this respect).

The head shave wasn’t as good an experience, though.

I started off on 3 and quickly dialled it down to 2. It felt rougher than I would have liked but did give me a very close head shave. The drag was present again and was strangely disconcerting (as I’ve never had a razor drag so much on my head). The handle was also a tad too small for my liking so I doubt that I’ll head shave with this razor again.

All in all, I reckon this is a keeper as the shave at the 1 and 1.5 settings were up there with the best razors I’ve ever used in terms of smoothness and efficiency. Therefore, it gets a definite thumbs up from me.
