I hope you feel better soon Charlie. I bet @jtspartan could go crazy in that store.

I can't recall them all. However, I do remember one was described as Ben Franklin underpants and the other was a take on Old Spice.

The towelette originally came as a free sample thrown in with a Fendrihan order. Fendrihan does this with a lot of stuff (that's where the Lavender Sandalwood soap sample I'm working on came from too). So I don’t know if the DR Harris cologne towelette sample is something DR Harris does or something Fendrihan makes up themselves. I know I plan to order a couple small sample sets of shaving cream from Fendrihan, including a set of six or eight DR Harris scent offerings. And I think Fendrihan makes those samplers up; they don’t come from DR Harris and the other British makers like that.

If you ever want to try a scoop from any of my Jars let me know. I don't have as many as some of the other guys here but my Stirling lineup has expanded quite a bit this year. Off the top of my head I have the following scents in full size jars:

    Glacial Black Cherry
    Glacial Lemony Orange
    Iced Pineapple
    Executive Man
    Mountain Man
    Stirling For Him
    Red Delicious
    Satsuma

I know Maggard Razors does something similar with soaps and aftershaves. I will have to see if they provide samples of cologne as well.

Thanks for the offer. Perry is sending my a sample of Stirling Bay Rum to try. Part of it could be I have learned more what I like and my scent choices have expanded over the years.

Paul, we just took a long weekend to stay at a B&B with some friends in northern Ohio. The area is known for agriculture and fine furniture building, so we just had to stop and check out this lumber company/hardware store. My buddy works for a lumber company, so he got a kick out of it too. It was nothing short of amazing.

Thanks Clint. A skilled wood worker would call it "hog heaven" here in my neck of the woods. :happy088:

We will be in your neck of the woods the last weekend of September for UK Parents Weekend. We scored tickets for the game so it should be a fun trip seeing Maya and a game.

Great shave and photo, Brian! Not sure anyone has as good of a travel kit as you do.

Thank you, Clint! Good news about the Stirling order. I'll be interested in your take on that scent. Seems like people really like it.

Rod mentioned once that they were using some tallow that wasn't great. The smell really bothered people and so they switched providers. I wonder if you got some of that soap made with the poor tallow? Anyway, looking forward to your thoughts on visiting Stirling again.

Beautiful selection at that store! I'd like to visit that place or somewhere like it.

The Stirling Ben Franklin is unusual. His description of the scent is actually quite comical, especially since he has had to constantly answer questions about why old man's underwear scent is offered. It is, of course, just a bit of comedy on his part. The actual scents include Frankincense, Benzoin, Nutmeg, and Clove.

I do have to agree, though, that this particular soap is definitely not a favorite for me. I still have most of the sample I got to try it. I'm not sure which of the notes I dislike, or if it's just the combination of them that doesn't work for me, but I won't be buying a full tub of this particular one.

I have resisted trying any of the Old Spice knock offs that any of the soap makers are producing. If modern Old Spice can't produce the same thing as the original, then I figure nobody else will get it right either.

Why do you keep your jars of Stirling on the top of your head? Doesn't that cause problems getting through low doors when they're stacked up like that? A nice shelf or cupboard space in your den would seem more appropriate. :innocent

I can say it will be the first college football game I ever intended expecting the home team to get slaughtered.

That could have been it. I am looking forward to giving it another try. I have added a bunch of the menthol scents to my wish list in hopes that the soap makes the cut this time.

You've never gone to a game at the school where they reverse "UK". KU wouldn't give you any better of a game. Even if they played the local high school team. True story - when I was a Freshman at Baker University, which is about 15 miles south of Lawrence, Kansas, home of the University of Kansas, we had a very good football team. NAIA Division 2. Small school. We were tearing up the competition. Our coach challenged KU to a game the following year and early in my Sophomore year, KU had agreed to a game between Baker's team and the second squad from KU. Ok, not the starters, but the next best thing. The final score?

    Baker 7 KU 7

Yep. A tie. The backups for KU couldn't beat a tiny college team. Couldn't even score twice on them. And their program hasn't gotten any better in the past 40 years.

IMO Stirling nails the basenotes of Shulton OS but is missing some of the top notes. P&G OS nails the Top notes but lacks that powerhouse powdery scent that Shulton is famous for. Mix the two and you've got a dead ringer.
Oh you know, I just want to showcase my love for Stirling everywhere I go.
