Happy Friday Everyone! I had a wonderful mail call yesterday with a new soap and razor. @PLAla Perry was kind enough to send me a sample of Stirling Bay Rum. I scored a good deal on a used Blackland Sabre Level 2 razor on The Nook BST that arrived as well. Since I have zero patience, both were on deck right away. This is my first use of Stirling soap since December 2014. I found the soap easy to load and lather with very good performance. The scent was fantastic with an interesting take on Bay Rum with a different note I can't place. Thanks again Perry for sending the sample. Three passes and touch ups just let the baby escape. As usual my lower right neck, aka"My Nemesis" spoiled a perfect shave. A splash of Dominica Grand Bay and I off to work. I hope everyone has a great Friday.

Fat Friday Detour of a Stirling SEptember

Prep: Cold water and Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap
    Blade: Schick
    Razor: Schick G5 injector
    Brush: Omega 10049 boar
    Soap: Mitchell's Wool Fat
Post: Witch hazel, Fine American Blend aftershave

Nice and easy shave this morning with The Fat and the Schick G5. This is a recycled photo from early May. Ain't gonna hide it! Got in after midnight last night after an 18+ hour day and got a little more than four hours of sleep. So I needed a shortcut this morning. Smooth and comfortable overall. Have a great day!

Good to hear, Clint! Nice photo as usual. Glad the Stirling worked out for you this morning.

  5. Screwtape

    Screwtape A Shaving Butterfly

The screw on the back of the razor head pushes that roller-type guard in front of the blade in and out. I am pretty sure that's the blade adjustment. Also the handle tightens or loosens a rod tip to let the head flop up and down. I think you can tighten it with the rod set slightly off centre to change the angle of the head itself to the handle if you want. (I have a few models of Wilkinson Sword razors in my collection but have never tried shaving with them.)

I am a huge fan of Stirling soaps, but the bay rum does have an off note that, to me, smells like dill pickles. I get that same note in their Ben Franklin scent. Not my two favorites in their line, but I’m also not a big bay rum guy, so I’m not sure I would use me as a litmus test.
P.S. I recognize that sample... Shaveys - the gift that keeps on giving!

    Beautiful, Clint!
I like the Stirling Bay Rum. The addition of clove and cinnamon make it different than my other bay rums.
    Congrats on the new razor!

    Razor: ATT S1
    Blade: Permasharp (3)
    Brush: Switchback/TGN Finest
    Pre-shave: Stirling Mentholated
    Soap: Stirling Mountain Man
    Stirling mentholated witch hazel
    AS: Stirling Mountain Man

    Good morning!

Yet another great shave to start the day! Two pass with touch up resulted in a DFS. I either have the S1 dialed in or it's forgiving of errors in technique, maybe a combination of the two.

    Happy Friday! [IMG]

I don’t get dill pickles but something like a sharp nutmeg citrus note I can’t place. Thank goodness it doesn’t remind me of Ben Franklin. That scent made me nauseous.

Thanks indirectly for the Shavey. It’ll be staying here.
