    I could loan you some cash. There is only a 10% interest, a 7% handling fee, a 9% restocking charge, a 3% insurance fee, a 15% loan deduction, a 6% docking fee, and a 22% severance charge.

UPS and Fedex. I could use USPS and they would pickup here but I would have to have all of my stuff ready by about noon. UPS gets here at 5 or 6 at night and that helps me out a great deal. Plus, I get one heck of a discount with UPS and their shipping software is much more user friendly than USPS. I am 4 miles from the Post office so I can't really afford to send someone on a shipment run to the PO.

Plus the USPS has bad, bad oversized fees. I ship a lot of condensers, radiators and glass thru UPS and it would cost me double, sometimes triple, if on USPS.

Just wondering about the smaller stuff, really.

They've been pitching their software to me and I can't find anyone that says it's a good deal.

I also get a good discount with UPS and find it convenient. Just wondering, really.

On smaller stuff they are probably cheaper but the software difference is key for me. Tracking packages and adding insurance is a PITA on USPS. I use them when I have ship to Hawaii or Alaska and it takes me 4 times as long to generate a label vs UPS.

This is what they were pitching me: http://www.endicia.com/

Uses my current UPS thermal printer. I'm just not sold on the price difference and convenience.

I quoted the wrong post, but I'm sure you get the idea.

How many packages do you ship a month?

Another key factor for me is with fuel pumps and fluid related parts. Obviously, when selling used you always have some residual fluid left and the USPS is finicky when they classify their hazardous stuff. Fuel pumps I can't ship with them because a lot of times, if the distance is far enough, they go on a plane. I learned this the hard way once.

Convenience is a big factor. I say UPS is convenient but that is just because I am used to it and it is in my comfort zone.

I agree about the convenience. I've used UPS for over a decade and been mostly happy.
My package rate is down right now (1-3/day), but I'm expanding operations here shortly and will hopefully be shipping much more. I'm starting to think it isn't worth the headache of using USPS, really.

I ship 20-30 packages a day on UPS, but before we got this big I was 5-10. Once I shipped more they immediately were open to better rates. If you start shipping a lot more you will be suprised how much they will dicker with you on a better rate, especially if you mention the competition wants your business.
