I like it, but honestly I don't use it too often anymore. I face lather now, so it doesn't see too much action. When I do use it, it always keeps things nice and hot, so it works well. It is well made, and I actually have one of the seconds. I can't tell what the flaw is in it, and neither can anyone else.

    Thank you Charlie.

And to think --- Three weeks ago my face was burned and nicked and I wasn't getting any closer than with my Fusion. Now no rash and I'm definitely closer than with the Fusion. Without the advice from all you guys I'm sure I would have called it quits... and regretted it.

I really need to post pics and write up the shave reports from last week. Working with the focus I've got some Exec Man and Ben Franklin and Tea Tree to write up. Outside the focus while I was traveling I have a compare and contrast to do with my Fusion. More tomorrow I guess.

Thanks, Jim. I mostly bowl lather. I only face lather went using glacials to get the full effect of the menthol. Good tip about the seconds.

We had a wonderful day today. It was like stepping back in time. My daughter started playing the cello when she was in the fourth grade and continued through high school. She was good, real good. She played in the school orchestra and in a youth symphony. It was a busy time for us with the private lessons, practices, performances and various competitions. Fast forward ten years and she took up her cello again. We spent the afternoon at her recital. Little ones just starting out to adults, some of them just starting out too. What a great time. She wasn't sure we would want to go. We've never missed one of her performances and we're not going to start now. And to boast a bit, she hasn't lost much, she was the best there.

Thanks, Charlie. That kid has always made me proud. She cruised through school with straight A's. Knocked out college and is well on her way down her chosen career path. The wife and I joke that we didn't have anymore kids because we used up all the good on her.

    NCoxSTL AAACK!

    SEptember is a Stirling month!

    September 8

Razor - Gem Micromatic Open Comb - OCMM
    Blade - [IMG] (1)
    Soap - Stirling Bay Rum
Brush - Stirling Pro Style Synthetic
    Finish - Alum

Avoiding the time warp by getting the shave in between the day job and the night job. You'll notice I'm on shave 1 for the Treet blade. I stropped the one I dropped yesterday and gave it a try. Horrible. Either it really did a number on the edge when it hit the drain or else the blade just went bad fast. Way fast for these blades from my past experience. I'm being extra careful with this one and it should go at least 5 shaves. We'll see.

Jennifer and I did some Bay Rum sniffing tonight before the shave. I had mentioned our discussions about Stirling soaps and it started with me having her take a whiff of the Ben Franklin. Not a favorite of hers. Not at all. I then had her whiff the Stirling Bay Rum. She agreed that clove stands out in both, but insists the Ben Franklin has a Ben Gay sort of thing going on. Not sure I get that but I know what she's after. I think. I then had her whiff the Jeeves Bay Rum. She preferred that to Stirling. Then, El Caballero. Not a favorite either. Her ranking - Jeeves, Stirling, Oleo. There, ladies and gentlemen, is the official Jennifer Bay Rum sniff test results from our pre-shave activities.

As for the actual shave - smooth as silk with the new Treet onboard the OCMM, though it did bite me on the left jawline. Not a spot that usually gives me trouble but with this razor it can happen anywhere anytime. Finish was excellent, though, so I'm calling it DFS and a really nice night with the razor in my hand. As for my preference - I really like the Stirling Bay Rum so I enjoyed that as well. Have a great Saturday night!

    SEptember Peer Pressure Setup

    Williams Mug Shaving Soap
    Omega Pro 10098 boar brush
    Suribachi bowl & cool water
Schick J-3 Golden 500, Chick blade
    Aqua Velva aftershave
SOTD 09082018.gif Props to Fuzzy @wchnu for his persistence at enabling others to try Modern Williams SS. I picked up a puck today and got a successful lather first try! Though he might be disappointed that I prehydrated the puck before loading, then bowl lathered instead of going straight to my face, I'm still glad I gave it a shot. While it's not Arko or Palmolive level, as far as inexpensive shave soaps go it's acceptable. Better than Marvy soap by a long shot. The slick was there, didn't dissipate from the bowl. I attempted a bit of face lathering and saw it do the disappearing act. The Golden 500 took care of a couple days of stubble in three passes and a little clean up detailing. Rinsed and followed up on the instruction from the Williams soap box with a splash of AV. Granddaughters wanted to get involved so each got to apply the AS by slapping my cheeks and rubbing my neck.
    Good Shaves Y'all!
