One word to describe today's shave, epic! The vanilla Sandalwood was a great scent coffee for this time of year. And when super gooped makes one of the slickest lathers ever. During the shave I kept looking at my razor to verify that I had a blade installed. Three passes left me BBS and I finished with a splash of Skin Bracer just because. Have a great day my friends!

Best shave yet with a DE razor. I'm not a daily shaver. Usually shave about 3 times a week. No bleeders with just a little irritation. I'm learning more and more that if I can get the right angle than pressure is definitely not required. Getting the right angle in certain spots however is really difficult! Anyone have any tips for the adam's apple neck area? That's my most difficult spot. That's where I have ended up with bleeders in the past. The blade is really smooth so far. Of course I've only ever tried one other blade which was a Ying jili blade that came with my Weishi. That one was quite sharp and I cut myself almost every time. of course that might have been me and not the blade as I was using way too much pressure when I started. Let's see how the next shave goes.

Good write-up. I usually just stretch my skin to one side of the Adam's apple. They the other side stretch. Works for me.

First, your problem with the first blade was almost certainly 90%+ the blade and not you -- those Chinese blades that come with the razors are good only for recycling. Same for Chinese blades with picturesque names like Flying Eagle, etc. -- nobody here has ever found a no-name or Chinese-name Chinese-made blade that was worth spit. Although the odd thing is that Chinese blades made for American or European brand-name companies are fine, so they can make good blades but just don’t bother doing so for their domestic market...

Second, congratulations on your progress! The Adam's apple area is one of the trickiest to shave. Really focus on skin stretching and using no pressure there, and to avoid irritation, be prepared to settle for "good enough" around there for awhile rather than over-shaving in an attempt to reach "perfect". Eventually, it will come too.

As others have said, welcome to the 30DC Crew! We hope you will decide to hang out here for a long time!

There are several members here who are experienced shavette users and will be happy to pass on tips. The most "hardcore" shavette user here (and possibly on the entire TSD) is probably Chris @Bama Samurai, who shaves with one almost exclusively. He has a great deal of hard-learned knowledge that he is always ready to pass along. Don't hesitate to page him or others for assistance.

I myself have used shavettes and straight razors enough to discover that I can shave well with them but enjoy shaving with a safety razor much more, so that's what I mostly do. My own big tip would be: "It's your shave, enjoy it your way." Ultimately, whatever works best for you is right.

I want to play that percussion thing with the horn and eggbeater.

Welcome. Starting out with with a shavette is like attempting the triple lindy for your first dive. Cudos!

    Beautiful razor, Clint!

Had a great shave today with my Weishi. I haven't shaved in several days and have a thick beard. The Weishi w/ a 7 o'clock took care of business. Instead of three passes w/ touch-ups, I would call this a four pass shave. Great after feel.

OK, Roger, but I just thought you might be better suited for a wind instrument.

@PLAla, is it always this difficult to assemble a band? Musicians and their inflated egos...sheesh. :git:

The WTG followed by XTG on the cheeks and XTG followed by J-Hooking on the jawline is really producing excellent results in just 2 passes. I have also done really well with buffing my chin lately - no weepers/irritation etc.
My lower neck still remains an issue. I had a shave, after a few beverages, in a hotel bathroom on Saturday and lit myself up - pressure and rushing. I then shaved yesterday evening and my neck looked even worse this morning. I have noticed though, that when I use my Almond TOBS the neck issue is worse. I'm not sure if I am imagining things, but I know I'm not imagining how much my neck is grinding my gears. Not 2 weeks back, I was having great shaves and no irritation on my neck. Now, with more experience, things are seemingly downhill!

    Enjoy your shaves gents!

I understand some of the worst are the ones who play that percussion instrument Randy @BaylorGator likes: They're prima donnas who insist on tooting their own horns at every opportunity and then whip themselves into a frenzy...

We had a few more auditions today, Paul. I'm playing Lead Jug, of course, but this gent plays a pretty nice Tenor Jug.
