Great picture, Jim! The handle of that injector almost looks metal. Looks like the same color as the razor head, but it may be your filter. Regardless, great shave!

Wednesday September 12 - same same September

I was lazy today about doing any deep thinking so I just repeated yesterday's setup. Mostly:

Supply Co V.2 Single Edge injector on plate #2 / Personna ( unknown #)
Jason's non - 30DC cypress handle with Maggards 24mm two - band badger knot
Horn quaich lather bowl
Hendrix Classics Barbershop soap sample
Alum and Supply Co Sierra Ridge balm

I bowl lathered today instead of face lathering. Did my normal two passes for a bit closer shave than yesterday's lazy one-and-done. Tested with the alum (result was fine). And grabbed the Supply Co Sierra Ridge balm at the last second rather than repeating yesterday's Arenella Coast. The razor, blade, brush and soap were all the same though...

September Focus

Old Spice~~Semogue Taj Mistura~~Merkur 37C~~Personna Med Prep~~B&M Spice AS

Last week I was insistent that B&M Reserve AS was a closer dupe to the Shulton OS than B&M Spice AS.
Today, I pulled out the grandmaster (soap you perverts! ) vintage tallow Old Spice soap to confirm
my original findings.
But first to the shave...
For the umpteenth time, I will lament the fact that this soap no longer is made.
EVERY time I use it, I am amazed at the slickness and the magnificent post-shave feel.
The Semogue fits perfectly in the rather narrow Old Spice mug, so I was able to really load up
without clanking the side of the mug with my brush.
On to the slant...
OK, I admit, the slant is completely unnecessary to achieve a close shave.
That isn't to say that one can't get a close shave with a slant bar razor...you can, and I did.
Personna Medical Prep blades (LOVE, that they don't use glue on the wrappers)
are sharp, smooth and comfortable. Rarely do I try for a world-record number of shaves with
one of these blades. 3-4 and gone.
After 3 passes and touch-up, I am silky smooth and ready for the grand experiment...
Opened both my sample of Reserve AND Spice; had my Shulton OS AS at the ready;
Sniffy-sniff...once again...back and forth...
Conclusion...get ready Fuzzy, I am about to admit a mistake
I hereby acknowledge that B&M Spice is slightly closer to the Shulton than the Reserve.
There...I said it. Put that in your pipe and smoke it. ​

A little short on time this morning I opted for a quick face lather and two pass shave. After a twenty second load I was able to whip up a yoghurty , shiny, slick lather in about a minute. Man this Vanilla Sandalwood smells great. This was actually my first time shaving with the 1914, I found it much more comfortable then then 1924. Two passes for a DFS and finished with the Nivea Sensitive for no real reason other then I haven't used it in a very long time. Have a great day my friends!

As a fellow Noob I had a thought about the Cremo drying out quickly. I realize you're not using a brush but I wonder if adding a drop or two of water might help with the dryness. When I first started lathering the Proraso I also found it to be a bit dry after a bit but after adding some additonal water it remained more slick and wetter. Hope it helps!

 

It's the backlot at the Desilu studio. You see it show up in the early seasons of Mission: Impossible, too.
