Good morning everyone...off to make some breakfast then clean up the house a bit.

Pics of my new acquisitions are up in the Antique Store Score thread, in case you missed it. Can you tell I'm stoked about it?! :D :D

Dom...thanks for the suggestion of the Pre de Provence over the Provence Sante. I have a Pre sample and really liked it. Of course, burnWood.

Yep. I had some PC soaps. They smell great and lather well. Unfortunately they perform like all straight glycerin soaps for me: very average. I like the idea of glycerin soaps but most don't work too well for me. Mama Bears is about it. I shaved her Mandarin Ice Orange the other day. Mmmmmm, orange.

Mornin' members of the board. Sorry for the abrupt departure yesterday. Locked out again and then the end of the night went haywire, and I was busy anyway.

Congrats to Rodd. I'm not the newbie anymore!

Dom, nice to see you back in action. We missed you for a few days there.

Hoping to get home early and enjoy some playoff football today. Then again tomorrow. My wife should sufficiently hate me be the end of the weekend. She just doesn't get football.

    Happy Saturday folks.

    YOOOHOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!

I finally found a DKW SANDSHARK!!!!! I have been looking for another one of these knives for a few years, and finally have one on the way. Sandsharks are the absolute toughest dual action OTF tactical automatic knives in the world.

hahaha for some reason I have the Billy Madison thing in my head now

"Soap is better, it goes on first, and cushions and lubricates."
"No, aftershave is better, it goes on last, and refreshes the skin" ;)

No problem. I like the Provence Sante soap, but found the Pre de Provence to be similar in moisturizing capabilities and an exceptionally good soap.

    (Mandarin) Ice, Ice, Baby.

I should be around more often now seeing as I'm no longer as insanely busy as I was at the end of the year.

    Congrats, Rodd.

I am glad that you liked it and that it has a good home.

It was a 3 piece gillette old. Neat little razor but it wasn't getting any use at my place.

    Good morning Shep.

Morning Trace. Been playin' with the new SCS creams? Didn't care for them myself although they did shave ok.

Kind a slow today...I just got done with my shave....Williams soap, 10 drops of glycerine, ball end tech, red ip 6th day, and English leather with tgr ASB. It wasnt fun but still got BBS. Williams does smell good though! It just doesnt give me that slickness that I love. I remember not using a balm afterwards and heading out the door. OMG! My face was so damn dry I slathered hand lotion to help out. Its one of those I just cant seem to get rid of though. I might try it w/o the glycerine next. Hard to believe its tallow based to. You know if they really wanted to....they could make it a good soap but they wont. For that price why should they.

I have said it in the past, and I will say it again. the only things from SCS that ever impressed me have been her colognes and her exfoliating scrub. The rest of the lineup is average, or below, IMO.

I know SCS was real proud when they came out with that cold process soap, but frankly it was underwhelming. You saw those lather pics I took...looked like dish soap. It did shave ok though, I'll give it that. Part of the fun is the lather needs to look like lather. Somebody posted in that thread it is the olive oil that makes that bubbly, dissipating lather. I have other soaps that contain olive oil and don't do that so it must be an issue of portions.

I have several EDT samplers on the way. I also have the Med Citrus AS which is nice. Not my favorite but nice. I agree the soaps and creams are average at best. I have to be honest in that the creams shave well; they're just too temperamental, and I don't need to deal with that when so many finer products are not. My opinion of course.

You got me beat sir! Not knocking SCS at all because they do have some fine products, my nose just doesnt approve of most:sick007 There are 2 colognes that my GF literally made me shower off. Another small thing which hopefully doesnt step over line is there attitude toward criticism of their products. I made the mistake of publically posting my opinion which I do for all products and got scolded for it? I will say that her return policy is nice and I am glad to see them offering samples now to test before buying. There are products and Em's, Mama Bears, QED, and of course here at TSD that I will be back for. Nothing there makes me salivate and get all warm and fuzzy inside. As always.....Burnwood.

Just got done shaving with the SCS coconut cream. Worst shave I have had in a long time. Lots of blood letting going on. I just don't get here creams. Thought I had it and then it just dissipated. My arm felt like I had just got done pitching nine innings against the Yankees. Halfway thru I dumped batch and went with Musgo Real. I like the Musgo, performed well for me. Neither of them are as good as the TOBS and my new Tabula Rasa. I am not going to give up on the SCS cream yet but I have a feeling by the time I get it figured out I will be out of the cream. The sandalwood splash and avocado balm from SCS kick a$$. Ray wasn't fibbing when he talked the avocado balm up, good stuff.
