Cool shot, Jim! I really like the looks of the Blue Hawk. Rumor is there will be a v3 SS Hawk coming soon, I'm trying resist the urge and not fall down the AC rabbit hole.

Yes its true that pressure + bad angle = pain and no pressure + bad angle = less pain. If you are still getting nicks and weepers its a good indicator that you are still using too much pressure. Using the shallowest angle possible will allow the blade to cut the whiskers rather then scrape them off ( this also has a huge impact on blade longevity) and also minimizes the chances that trauma to the skin will occur. Check out the Ride the Cap thread, if you haven't already done so. And check out the diagram below regarding shallow vs steep angle. Keep at it, you will be having great irritation and blood free shaves in no time!

Since I opened both of my B&M samples and did a comparison of the two yesterday, I wanted to use this sample today.
Figaro Sapone Speciale...aka: the original P.160.
It's a vintage tallow soap. The original scent is probably 50% gone, but it's still noticeable.
This soap has terrific qualities, both during and after the shave.
The lather is dense. Takes a good amount of H2O to "smooth" out the lather.
Very slick and protective.
The Rubberset was fun to use again. I have tried different grips on it and am curious how you
Rubberset owners hold yours. What seems to work best is when I extend my index finger forward towards the knot.
That grip seems give me more control. Otherwise my mirror and walls resemble a Jackson Pollock painting.
Day 2 of the Med Prep. No signs of degradation. Definitely on deck for tomorrow.
3 Passes + Touchup = BBS.
B&M Reserve... just didn't: "Float my boat" today. Can I get a "Meh"?
I have one more trio of B&M AS samples, so we'll see them again in this thread.​

The L7 was part of a recent eBay "parts" lot though it is actually in great condition and even has intact stripes. I thought it would be interesting to break it in with a vintage Twin blade. The Personna Twins have been mentioned recently and, since I also had a pack, decided to go with them. The rest is pretty much my usual setup.

I don't have a lot to say about the shave other than to wonder why most people ever stopped using setups like this. It was a mild, effortless BBS with no issues... pretty much all I could ask for.

It was nice to shave with a basic L-type Injector today. I had an L1 but traded it away because it didn't seem to give me anything over my J1. Ever since PAA announced their L1 clone, however, I've noticed that I have a curiosity about having an L again. The L7 is perfect in that it combines the basic L1 design with a certain uniqueness. To be fair, I also have a Stick Schick which is also an L-series, but find the handle to be a bit of a novelty rather than practical.

I have all the B&M Reserves and I like them all but if I had to rank them the Classic would be on the bottom of the list.

Thank you Andrew. The bag of cream will last a while. I gave Wade a 2 oz tube but that still left me with a lot.

 

I'm using a shavette but this is still helpful. I am definitely starting to shave with too steep of an angle and will tone it down and apply little pressure. In certain areas of my face (sideburns) my angle is decent but tend to have too steep of an angle in other areas like below the jawbone and around my chin. Thanks for the helpful info and will try to be more aware of my angle during the next shave. I'm getting closer to success with each shave. Thank you all for the help.

Excellent 2 passes with a touch up. The Hendrix soap whipped up a good lather very easily.
