    Wonderful photo, Jim! I really enjoy the Dunshire scent. Some brisket sounds great! I have a smoker but don't get to use it often. I've done chicken, pork butts, and turkey but not a brikset. Yet. Enjoy!

    Wonderful photo, Clint!

    Beautiful shot, Brian! Good luck.

    Great shot, Rick! Everything I've heard about Der Vergulde Hand has been positive. Wonder what happened with your lather? Nevertheless, loved the anecdote with your granddaughter getting lather all over the place!

    A Stirling SEptember

    Prep: Cold water and Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap
    Blade: Personna Ultra Chrome
    Razor: Schick E2 injector
    Brush: JR #41 badger
    Soap: Stirling Scots Pine Sheep
    Post: Witch hazel, RazoRock Blue Barbershop aftershave

    Nice shave this morning. The Schick E2 behaved appropriately today after sometimes being salty and wanting to create weepers and nicks. Took my time and used light pressure and was rewarded with a nice shave. Finished with a healthy splash of the Blue Barbershop aftershave which is a really mentholated product. I quite enjoy it but it would certainly take some folks off-guard with it's coldness. Nice way to start a lazy Saturday.

    Here's to college football watching and relaxation today. Cheers! :eatdrink047:

    Doing well, Paul! We've had some frustrations with afternoon rain showers and having to stay inside a couple of practices but they're steadily improving week after week. We have our county band exhibition on Monday night and the first contest next Saturday. It's certainly busy!

    The brisket has been on the smoker for five hours now, still has a long way to go. Turkey is something I haven't done, maybe this thanksgiving. I'll want a practice run at it first though.
    Great photo!

    Thank you, Jim! Smoked turkey is really tasty. I need to do it again. Some pork butts I've done have turned out wonderfully, but then I got a new smoker as my first one was a small side burner. It started to rust and had to go. Got a side burner with a vertical cooking stack. Last pork butt I did was a little dry but I haven't had an opportunity to do anything else in a while.

    September Focus

    Castle Forbes Lime~~Morris & Forndran 2XL~~1941 Ranger Tech~~Schick Krona (1)~~Old Spice Lime AS
    Focus gear: .......
    This shave may not qualify for the September focus, but here it is anyway.

    When I first returned to wet shaving, a very generous forum member (can't remember who)
    included in a BST purchase a tub of CF Lime cream AND ASB.
    My initial reaction was..."this smells like Lestoil" Not a compliment.
    Foolishly I binned both. :scared003:
    Yesterday, I received another tub and decided to revisit it.
    Not going to lie, it still reminds me of the floor cleaner, BUT not as bad.
    I will say that this cream ROCKS!!!!!
    My litmus test for ANY soap is if it performs to my standards when simply "painted" on.
    Bowl-lathered and "dabbed", if you will, on my face. That's exactly what I did today.
    ZERO scrubbing on the face. Castle Forbes passed with flying colors. :happy088::happy088:

    Lather: 5/5 :happy088::happy088:
    Slickness: 8/5 :happy088::happy088::happy088:
    Post shave: 5/5 :happy088::happy088:
    Scent: 2/5 :confused: (Sorry, it is NOT my favorite Lime scent)
    I would be hard-pressed to find another brush, which is as soft (albeit w/backbone) as my
    M&F 2XL Blonde Badger. Top of the heap in my brush arsenal.

    It's decided. IF I had to evacuate (and I am not making light of our friends weathering out hurricane Florence)
    I would grab my 1941 Ranger Tech. There is nothing about this razor that I do not like.
    Looks, balance, geometry, weight. It's the real deal.
    The Schick Krona blade is a winner too. Smooth and sharp; NOT harsh, like a Feather can be.
    If you have never tried the vintage Old Spice scents, you're missing something.
    The Fresh Lime AS was lovely. Excellent finish.

    RyX DoH!

    I'm with you on the Vintage Products idea. Reformulation of current products may correct issues in response to consumer feedback. Stuff that's long out of production and dwindling is precious. Shulton AS's have aged well and I'm always tempted to purchase when I spot em. I haven't yet found Lime Old Spice or any of the other variations in the wild but I'm watching for them.

    No real tip from me. It just worked for me. 10-15 second brush load then straight to the face to make the lather. Dipped the tips of the brush a couple of times in water and had a slick shiny lather. I haven't tried it in a lather bowl, so that might be the difference. Or it could be the Plissoft brush. Or it could be the sunspots...

    Thanks Perry. For a "professional" opera company performance, it was decidedly "high school" Very disappointed.
