I've been watch this for quite a long time ...

Finally took the plunge and decided to work on restoring it.

Yup, I'm crazy

 

Cut the collar, smooth it out, no?

 

I'm just waiting for the weekend to arrive. Almost there.

 

I may do that, but ideally I'd replace the collar with one fabricated from aluminum, to keep it as a tulip. Unfortunately that's not one of my skills.

We'll see what I do.

On Ebay, I've seen aluminum collars for use in walking sticks in 20mm and 22mm. They could also be in other sizes, don't really know. I was searching as I have similar ideas about using them for brushes. This is one example................
