Oh, that. Same thing any caring father would do for his child given the circumstances. I had a conversation with a young man and explained to him he'd change his ways or I'd grab a shovel and frog march him out to the orchard where he'd make lousy fertilizer and no one would miss him. Sometimes I wonder why public floggings don't still happen. With Pay Per View the victims might receive compensation as well. Taking corporal punishment out of public schools and town squares & time off for "good behavior" for perps of violent crimes has given the worst of society a green light to act up. Did I type that out loud?

    SEptember is a Stirling month!

September 18 - Let's do the time warp again!!!!

    Razor - 1912 Gem
    Blade - [IMG] (5)
    Soap - Stirling Ben Franklin
Brush - Stirling Two Banded Synthetic
    Finish - Alum

It's a GrubHub night so time warping is unavoidable. That's ok. Made some $$$ and had some fun along the way for a change. Sometimes it's a fun time, sometimes it's enough to make you drive your car head on into a wall.

Fifth shave on the Treet Super and it has shown no signs of slowing down. Still smooth and the alum is still quiet after the shave. And, after the usual three passes, the baby is again in the house. Just another one to add to Chris's breastplate of power. With 12 shaves left in the month I think I'll be going back and forth between the 1912 and the 1914 to see if I can determine which I prefer. It may well be a tie. They're certainly closely related. The shaves with these two razors have been outstanding this month. What a fun month it's been with the SE razors. (Don't tell @wchnu I said this but.....I could easily take a break from DE's for awhile and go SE) I have to give the Fuzzy one some credit, though, as he was my coach in discovering the exact technique and gear to try. He is truly a master of the SE world and a fine enabler to boot!

Speaking of 12 days to go in the month - it's not too soon to start polishing up those open comb razors in your collection. OCtober is fast approaching!

Ah the old slide rules. As math was never a strong subject for me I never had the pleasure of using one. I had a couple of college buddies who did, though, because the Chemistry Professor at Baker required them. Talk about some culture shock. That was 1977 when the TI calculators had largely taken over. I remember their struggles to master the slide rule and the passion with which Dr. White defended using the old school method.

I went online the first time in 1988. Used a Tandy 1000EX computer with a 300 baud modem card installed. Of course there was no internet available back then, just local bulletin board services tied to FIDOnet. Talk about dinosaur technology now. Hot stuff back then. I used Compuserve as a DOS based service for awhile. Even bought the entire set of manuals to be able to do everything. Then Prodigy caught my eye with its graphics. In about 1990 or so I got a free disk in the mail from a company called PC Link. They offered a graphical interface for online at $9.95 per month. Dialup, obviously, and as usual it was a long distance call. The deal included a lifetime rate of $9.95 for charter members. I used it a few months, paid off the outrageous long distance bill and watched as it became AOL. Oh the good old days.

The SOC Mistura knot continues to improve with each use. The SOC made short work of loading and lathering the Caballero this morning. Two passes and touch ups along my jawline and lower neck caught the baby with ease. A splash of Dominica Grand Bay and am ready for the morning commute. I hope everyone has a great Wednesday.

    A Stirling SEptember

Prep: Cold water and Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap
    Blade: GEM PTFE
    Razor: Superior Lather Catcher
Brush: Ever Ready 100T restored badger
    Soap: Stirling Sandpiper
Post: Witch hazel, Stirling Sandpiper aftershave

Fun shave with the Lather Catcher and Stirling Sandpiper. A couple of spots on my lower neck aren't quite as smooth as normal. Think this blade was on its last legs, but nice shave overall. Love the scent of Sandpiper and the Ever Ready brush made exceptional lather. All came together quite well.

    Have a great day!

I'm happy to report that I'm no longer scuttled. Great lather led to a wonderful shave. Two pass with touch up, DFS result.

    Have a great day!

Lovely photo, Jim. Does that mean you have "scuttled" your Scuttle and are face-lathering, or you have figured out how to get the lather you desire?

    Thanks Joseph.
I figured it out. I was using a back and forth motion with my brush which wasn't agitating the soap enough to build a lather in the tapered bowl of the scuttle. A circular motion cured my woes.

I'll echo what some of the others have already said. Yes - Stirling products are excellent. The soaps are easy to lather, and perform wonderfully. Not to mention their wide variety of scents. Their brushes are also absolutely top-rate, especially given their price...almost a steal for their badger brushes. Seriously, they're really underpriced for the quality.

I exchanged a few messages with him the other evening. He and the family are doing well. He's just crazy busy with work.
