A catch up post, and I am sorry if I missed a few, but there have been some great pictures today.

I am having a late dinner at the hotel before heading to bed, as I get up nice and early tomorrow. I hope everyone has a great evening.

There's a quality of soaps referred to as "residual slickness". After making a swipe with your razor a thin film of lather remains. Some soaps have more of this quality than others. I like it for reducing razor burn.

John gave the other easy answer - use more soap!

How is that new brush, John? Is the SynBad different that the Tuxedo or Cashmere? Or just a new colour scheme?

September 19 - Let's do the time warp again!!!!

    Razor - 1912 Gem
    Blade - [IMG] (6)
    Soap - Stirling Gatlinburg
Brush - Stirling Pro Style Synthetic
    Finish - Alum

It's the midnight hour once again, and once again I'm on the wrong side of it. GrubHub night again tonight, though it was my worst yet. Actually the first bad one I've had so I can't complain. Still like doing it even if it does force time into another dimension. Where Rod Serling may eventually pop out.

I kept the Treet Super blade in play for shave number six. It's still as smooth and seems as sharp as day one. Another three pass shave to a BBS finish. It just isn't weakening at all. Love, love, love it! I used the Sterling Gatlinberg. Last night's foray into the world of the Ben Franklin proved to me again that I really don't care for that scent. Gatlinburg has been on the fence as well, though I've always had a bit of fondness for it. Tonight I felt like it was a scent I could stick with, though, as I picked up the cedar and sage especially. This one may eventually get picked up in a full tub. Ben Franklin, not so much.

Day off tomorrow and my new Chromebook arrives tomorrow as well. I went ahead and took the plunge on it. The mighty Dell will again be put into backup mode and I'll do some digging into the source of the network adapter problems on it while it's not hauling the full load. I'm choosing to abandon Windows for the most part by getting the Chromebook. I already do nearly everything online or through websites anyway, plus I've picked up some good tips on apps and programs for Chrome that should outperform the Windows stuff I've always used. We'll see how it goes. It was also an inexpensive option so if I hate it I can always switch back without losing my shirt. Also, it's a 14" model, very portable, so I can carry it with me and keep up with the world better than on my tablet by itself. Might even mean I can keep up here a bit better too!

Have a wonderful Thursday - since it's already here!

All three are slightly different. The Tuxedo fibres are thicker than the Cashmere, so the Tuxedo has a bit more backbone. Meanwhile the SynBad feels a lot silkier than the other two. Would have to try doing a lather test loading all three from the same soap tub at the same time to see what difference if any that makes in actual performance....

Five minutes later: okay I went and did a test lather with the three, all 24mm knots though the Tuxedo and Cashmere are bulbs and the SynBad is a fan. Loaded a damp brush for ten swirls each in my Italian frankensoap tub then built lather in my palm.

Result: three damp brushes and a very clean hand. :). My sense was that the Tuxedo was the densest and stiffest knot with the most backbone, the Cashmere was slightly softer, and the SynBad felt a bit softer and silkier than the other two when damp and building lather just as it did when dry. As far as speed in building lather in my palm and performance in creating coverage, though, there was very little to choose between them. I think the SynBad may in fact be closer to achieving that pillowy soft feel of a good badger brush than the other two, but the Tuxedo and Cashmere were both already very good.

So my take is that the difference is a bit more than just a new colour scheme (and the option of fan shape), but we're not talking quantum leaps here. If someone is looking for a new brush anyway, the SynBad is definitely worth considering, but I am certainly not going to junk my Tuxedo and Cashmere knots just because the SynBads are now here.
