Heard this on the news this morning, and then saw it on the news this evening. Did a quick search and didn't find it anywhere on TSD, so here is a link: https://www.wired.com/story/gillette-new-heated-razor/ I'm mildly intrigued.
I told my wife about this, right before I told her how affordable the Rockwell S6 is. She almost went for the S6, which is one I really want. Oh well. Sent from my DROID Turbo using Tapatalk
Every one who buys one gets an "I'm a idiot award." So I hear. This is as silly as the vibrating model. (2005ish?) You want a warm shave get a scuttle. No such thing as high end cart garbage by the way. Put lip stick on a pig and you still have a pig....it just has pretty lips.
Although I'm a DE cold water shaver I still prefer my blade to be warm. So prior to shaving and during each rinse I use hot running water from the tap. Problem solved plus I just saved $118.00 bucks. At some point Gillette has to quite trying to reinvent the wheel. However I still luv them and will be forever indebted to them for making my beloved 54 Super Speed, 1930 NEW, pre-war Tech, 06 Single Ring (plus other great razors) in my collection. When these razors wear out I still won't be in the market for a new fangled razor because I will be dead and my great grand kids will be using them.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not defending it, but my last cart razor before going to DE shaving was one of those vibrating Gillette's and it did feel better with the vibrate function turned on. I'm sure it just disguised the ripping action of the cart.
So... when some Darwin-award-runner up somehow manages to burn him/herself with one of these things....?
Serious question tho... I didn't see a mention of an auto-shut off for the heating element. Maybe I missed it. But, under the right (or wrong) conditions... who pays when you burn the house down? (That other board... Member X: Gee... ya know, my 200 proof aftershave was kinda cold this morning... I know what! *lightbulb* )
I heat my straight razors, by swishing them in warm water. I will laugh at the first member silly enough to by one of these "Heated Gillette" cartridge razors.
Not for what they are currently asking but if the price goes way down and I might give it a go. But then I like off things and widgets Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
