Who's pretending?I can get a BBS shave from any razor in my den or they wouldn't live there. I'm sure lots of us can. Not necessarily talking about results, shave experience is more than that, it's why we prefer one razor over another. "Better" is obviously a subjective judgement based on whatever factors we consider important. Thus for me the Ascension is better by a lot than the Slim Twist, even if I could ultimately reach the same result. This is probably the 10th time you've made this same observation on a thread I've participated in, we get it.
There's a guy at the gym who's like that. Talks so much you wonder how he breathes as he excercises. Yet he somehow finds a way.
Can anyone compare the shave to the Razorock baby smooth aluminium ? Sent from my MI MAX using Tapatalk
I can guess it is not meant for you. Probably wants newer folks to know a expensive razor will not solve technique problems. That is why I usually comment. just stirring the pot.
I love the Double Open comb design and this razor is NOT expensive -- compared to stuff that goes for hundreds - PAA is always release new thing and trying - and that is what I Like - there have been duds - I don't like the SE starling - but There resurrection of the walbush (typo) german humpback slant in bakelite and alumuiinum are just awesome! they were the first to resurrect the DOC (which is a old design) and they have been copied by CHina - YAQI And RazoRock - the chines e basically copy everything and and manufacture with slave labour wages - so they are what they are. So PAA released the assencison - very fair price and I Love it! I don't need a heavy razor - aluminum is fine - the razor SHAVES Great AND YES better than the fat boy or slim.... I can get bbs from every razor I own - I am a crazed collector wasting money - but yes I think this razor is above average and I love it...….. vintage razors are great! but modern ones that tweek a vintage design are really coooool and PAA are masters at it --- sure there are lots of folks obsessed with hating paa - but that aint me - in fact there my favorite artisans... and Doug is a fairvhaven native - so he is my people!
So what is so dodgy? Its called marketing, and the person that owns a business and is passionate and wants to sell items.. - also this is not a expensive razor. The pop wheel spinning is literally used on Thousands of webstores - so you would have saved something on the sale - and I guess that is bad? also - EVERY webstore asks you to sign up for udpdates or specials - so not a unique thing to get your email.. basically PAA does what every other web seller does - its USA - capitalism. "Over the Top" sales pitch - its humor , its America... over the top sales pitch is American as Apple Pie - this is not the soviet union (the socialists have not won yet)
That is true - The ascension, bakelite slant, alpha eclipse bakelite for 20 bucks - are all affordable AMAZING razors - the alpha is a copy of a amazing slant razor design that goes for Hundreds of dollars on ebay - and they have it for 20 bucks and made of bakelite.. So that is what I like - I could care less of past marketing - this is the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA - and we are CAPITALISTS and WE WORK HARD TO "build the better mouse trap" - I embrace passion and marketing.
First impression of the Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements Ascension (Twist-Adjustable) Double Open Comb, quarter turn from snug; Is that it is somewhat more aggressive than the original PAA DOC, also more efficient, while still being nearly as smooth as the original DOC. The Aluminum construction makes it very light but it had no problem mowing down the weekend growth with little to no added pressure. It is a very good shaver indeed and the quality shows.
