Agreed. I'm probably still using too much pressure at times as my latest shave was was really bad. I'm writing up a post about this in a little bit. Lol...well my soap stash isn't very big right now...I have 3 at the moment(Proraso green(half tub), Razorock Lime burst, one pack of Arko) but one of them I've stopped using because it really seems to irritate my skin. It's the Razorock "What the Puck" Lime burst soap. I tried it 4-5 times and each time I'd feel it burn when I was doing a 2nd or 3rd pass.

Thank you, Gentlemen. I am a little bummed about the walnut bowl the Coniferous is in, though. I used a carnauba wax finish on it as I wanted to keep the sealant somewhat natural as I am housing soap in it. Unfortunately, the finish reacts with virtually everything liquid besides straight H2O and stains very easily. I think I'm going to have to carve the puck out, strip it, and try something different.

All I can say is Ouch! One of worst shaves in the last 6-7 I've done. I don't know if the lather was too light or the blade might be done but it wasn't moving smoothly like it normally does. The only other difference was that I shaved after a shower instead of using a hot towel...could be my face dried out too much in between drying off and getting the lather ready. I did re-wet my face but I guess it wasn't as soft as right after a hot towel. Might also be too much pressure..arrgh..old cart habits die hard I guess.

I just had a lot of irritation and several bleeders. Also felt like I just couldn't get certain parts as smooth as I would like on my face. It could also be that I'm not used to shaving again in 36 hours. I normally wait about 48 before I shave again. I'll try the blade one more shave and if it's as painful as this one, I'll toss it and start a new one. I don't know how some of you do daily shaves...makes my skin :angry021:at the thought! I'll have to be a lot more careful on the next shave so I don't end up getting my razor drunk on bloody mary's courtesy of my face.

Do yourself a favor and just ditch the blade now, no need to risk another bad shave if it was the blade. Likely it wasn't, but why tempt fate? Try this to get a feel for no pressure. Try to wipe away some of the lather with the blade without the blade making contact with the skin. Then with that in mind, try to make it so that the blade just barley makes contact with the skin, again just wiping away the lather. Don't worry, the whiskers will get cut too! It wont be long before your able to shave daily without irritation, keep at it!

Sitting at the dentist office while my wife gets a root canal. Too much time on my hands obviously (as you can tell by the number of my posts this morning...) as I just ordered the Felce Aromatica in a tin (decent price and the place I got it was only offering it in the tin) and a Barrister's Reserve Fern splash (I blame @jluc for trumpeting its virtues). I'm not bored very often, apparently this is my version of adult beverages and football viewing. You are a world class enabler without even trying, Clint!
@Screwtape is just as bad. I'm now looking at APShave Co synthetic knots...

Everything that Andrew @Linuxguile said, Spock. Don't wait - ditch that blade NOW. Then try the "no pressure" exercise he suggested.

Always glad to help, Jason. :)

Speaking of which, I have two Fougeres in my hoard -- Valobra and MdC. Just for you, I dug them out and sniff tested them. I have used the Valobra but haven't cracked the MdC yet. As soap, the Valobra is an excellent tallow product.

The scents: the MdC is sweeter and the Valobra earthier. Of the two, I prefer the MdC (well, I HAVE to say that, don’t I, considering what I paid for it...). If pushed though, I would admit that the MdC scent is not twice the price nicer. And the Valobra is staying in my den; unlike some other scents, I have no desire to PIF this one elsewhere.

    Hope helps...

Sorry about the rough shave. I would suggest using a blade no more than 3 times while you’re mastering your technique. That will help eliminate blades as a source of the problem baring a dud blade.

You will love the SV soap. The tin is gorgeous as well. Just be careful not to scratch it.
