I've completed two shaves so far on this round with the Mongoose. I'm using a Feather Super Professional blade, which should last for at least a week. I'm still getting reacquainted with the weight of the razor. Today's shave was just one pass plus touch ups around my mouth and chin area. I'm not experiencing any lasting irritation, but I do notice a few tiny red dots on my neck a couple of hours after the shave. I need to really watch my pressure on the blade and maybe even do a better job of prep and lather building. I also wonder if the blood thinner is going to make me a little more prone to weepers. They're minor, but when I see them, I know I can do better. I'll hang with this razor through October, and it will be interesting to see how the shaves progress. I'm determined to continue shaving with "real" razors for the next few months and not have any weepers.

I'm down 25 lbs as of this morning. I weigh 250, and my target weight is somewhere between 185 and 200. I'm wearing size 38 slacks, and they're almost comfortable. :) Only two month ago, I was wearing size 42 slacks, and they were beginning to get tight. I (slowly) climbed and descended 4 flights of stairs this morning and didn't experience any shortness of breath...that's great progress considering I couldn't climb my basement stairs two weeks ago without nearly passing out. As the weight comes off, I notice that my mobility is improving. My Bride tells me that I no longer snore, so I'm not disrupting my sleep or hers. The last couple of months, and the last two weeks in particular, reinforce the importance and blessing of having good health. Life is good. :)

Thanks, gentlemen! I appreciate the kind words. I decided to tell my story so you guys can keep me honest. I know it's going to be tough to maintain a healthy weight once I get there, and I need the accountability.

Right there with you, Charlie. 18 Pounds down (and a lot more to go), but in the last week or so I’m starting to notice a difference in how I feel as well. Keep up the good work!

Well done, gentlemen! Do please keep us informed of your progress.

I'm sort of dieting myself. Mostly inspired by the recent 30DC Health Club, to be honest. My plan simply consists of not buying any candy, cookies, ice cream or pop when I do my weekly shopping at the grocery store. If it's not around the house, I can't eat it. No idea what that's doing for my weight though...

I'm still using the Ever Ready 1912 with great results. I did change my soap today to Proraso to see if I could get the same great shave, and I did. I'll stick with the Ever Ready for the last week (it's probably about right based on the number of shaves per blade I'm getting), then move on to trying the same experiment with a different razor for October. I really need to do this with a straight.

You’ve done great this month. What razor are you going to try next month?

Thank you, John! I appreciate the encouragement and likewise congratulate you on your path toward a healthier lifestyle. Like you, I gave up dairy milk (for almond milk) and regular soft drinks (for water), and I really cut back on bread. I do indulge in ice cream (my weakness) a couple of times a week. I just keep my portion size at a half to three quarters of a cup...

Of course, I still get a steady supply of 30DC cookies delivered to my house weekly. ;)

Well, I just took the first serious step towards better health tonight -- I pitched my bathroom scale; I will buy a new one this week. I stepped on it to see what I weigh now and if I have lost anything since I was last weighed by my doctor at my annual physical on July 25. The wretched thing told me I weigh 140 lbs. I have floated on either side of 190 for the last decade at least -- in July I came in at 187. I will never achieve anything with a scale that lies to me to make me feel good...

John, we purchased this scale a couple of years ago, and it works great. I have found it to be repeatable over the time I've used it. My Bride worked in a laboratory, and it compared favorably to a calibrated coal scale they used in the lab.

Thanks, Charlie. I need to order a new tablet and a couple professional textbooks from Amazon anyway, so I just added that scale to my cart for when I place the order at the beginning of next month.
