Many feel that the left representing evil comes from the Bible, specifically the book of Matthew where it is written:
“He shall separate all nations one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats; and he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left…then shall the king say unto them on his right hand, come, ye blessed of my father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world…then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels.”
As a left hander, I can only attest to the fact that it's a right handed world and we are forced to conform to it. An interesting fact from Greek history, it was believed that a child would be male if the egg was fertilized with seed from the right testicle, and female if fertilized from the left testicle. Men were known to tie off one or the other in order to predetermine the gender of the child.

Thank you, John. All these razors are keepers, for sure.

I just have three fountain pens. I'm also a lefty, so I'm familiar with the challenges of writing with them. I'm surprised that I don't smear the ink more than I do with the side of my left hand. Both inks I currently use dry fairly quickly, and the black ink was recommended to me specifically because it is fast drying. Of the three pens, the TWSBI is a little easier for me to use. I find it relaxing to practice my cursive writing and lettering with a fountain pen. Most of the time, I will use them to take notes at church.

I would like to pick up a super cool 0.5 mm mechanical pencil sometime. I've used several different kinds of Pentel mechanical pencils over the years, but I wouldn't mind getting something different. Do you have any recommendations?

I am a right hand only shaver with a DE or SE. It has caused me problems only when I learned to use a CJB Shavette. I needed to become competent with my left for that Kami styled razor.

Thank you, Gents. Yes, I agree with you both, and do left to right and right to left passes with a GEM below my nose. My hair seems to grow very close to my nostrils, and I seem to leave a bit behind right at the top with the GEM. I tried to go S-N there this morning (a rarity for me) to no avail. I actually finished up with an E3 below my nose. It Took all of 5 seconds, I really shouldn’t complain.

Love those test tube racks, Charlie. Very nice. Would you prefer they were a little shorter and the razors rested on the recessed holes on the bottom, or do you like them hanging straight down? I ask only as advice in case I ever get around to making a couple.

Thank you, Jason. You could make some beautiful razor storage racks with your woodworking skills. I prefer for the razors to hang straight down. If I have to move the rack, the razors aren't moving around and bumping into each other. The razor heads just sit on the upper portion of the rack. In contrast, the R41 with the long handle moves around a bit when the rack is moved. You could solve this problem by using smaller holes as well. If you Google "razor storage" and look at all the images, you'll get some good ideas. Please keep us posted if you decide to build some racks. I'd enjoying seeing them.

I suggested to my Bride that I could sit all the razors on the sink in the racks. She suggested I put the racks in the medicine cabinet. Can't win 'em all, I guess. :)

It's hard to beat a Zebra 701. It writes well, and it's tough as nails. I also like the Parker Jotter next to it for everyday use. I picked up some really good and inexpensive Parker refills from India on Amazon.

    SEptember is a Stirling month!

    September 26
Razor - Type M Schick Injector
    Blade - [IMG]
    Soap - Stirling Sheep
Brush - Stirling Two Banded Synthetic
    Finish - Alum
    .
Time warping tonight but it was well worth it. After skipping the shave last night I had a nice two day growth going. I switched to the Type M Schick, wide open on the adjustment dial, and went to work. The Sheep for the soap and it was luxurious, slick, all the good things you can say about mutton - this soap is it. Two passes and some minor touch up and the baby is easily in the house. I needed an easy shave to finish off my "week".

I'm off tomorrow and plan to spend a little time organizing in the den and catching up around here. Have a great Thursday!

I noticed today that I have been a bit behind around here (ok, so I already knew that) but in being behind I have committed a most heinous offense. I failed to take note of a couple of birthdays of some really stand up guys around here. (Meaning they stand around a lot, but they're entertaining)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY from the Cartel to @Primotenore and @wristwatchb and may you have many more - all smooth shaven and all shared with the finest group of shaving nuts around!

Yeah, I know, I'm speed posting tonight. It's good to be the Czar.

Care package arrived from Arkansas today. My wife informed me last week that she was low on her shave soap and down a bar of bath soap. So, since I had to do a Stirling order for her stuff I piggy-backed onto it for myself. I got my full tubs of Sheep and Iced Pineapple along with three samples. The Black Ice is a marvelous scent. Love it just from the initial sniff. The other two are mutton based and I'll give you my opinion of the scents when I spend a bit more time with them. I separated them so they won't carry over the scents between them. They were packaged together so it's a little mixed up coming out of the box.

    A Stirling SEptember

Prep: Cold water and Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap
    Blade: Personna Ultra Chrome
    Razor: Schick L5 'Revere' injector
    Brush: JR #60 synthetic
    Soap: Stirling Dunshire
Post: Witch hazel, Stirling Dunshire aftershave

Fine shave this morning with Stirling Dunshire and the Schick Revere. Not quite as smooth down on my lower neck as usual, but no worries. This razor is pretty mild and I didn't want to push it in that area and risk irritation. Good shave in the long run.

This is the last of Stirling SEptember for me. We are taking a quick trip to the Gulf Coast this weekend and I'm taking The Fat as my shave soap. It's been a terrific month of shaves (went by fast as well). Stirling products are top notch in my book.

    Have a great day!
