Sheep is an unscented soap. It has a bit of a "fatty" odor, if that makes sense. Not much of an odor at all, really.

Well, let's see how well the archivists of the 30DC are functioning today. Seems like when I'm looking for a past post that I have no idea where it is all I have to do is mention it and one of the resident thread librarians pulls it right to the top.

I posted a list of all of the themes for the year - month by month - awhile back. No idea which month, when, etc. Thought I had a .doc of it but I can't find that anywhere either. It's possible I typed it straight to here without an offline save. I've done dumber things.

    Anyone got any ideas?

    Micromatic Open Comb Focus

    Day #2

    Razor: GEM MMOC
    Blade: GEM Stainless (3rd use)
    Brush: Bluebeard Doubloon
    Soap: TOBS Peppermint
    Post Shave: Nivea Sensitive

Back to normal today. Two full passes WTG then XTG (ATG under chin), followed by a touch up pass on jawline, chin and upper neck. Ended with a DFS with minimal irritation. It was nice to get the lather bang on in the bowl... I found it clogging because my Palmolive was too thick the last couple of days! Lovely consistency tonight!

    Enjoy your shaves gents!

    Screwtape A Shaving Butterfly

That's what spending about 40 years scrounging in antique shops, junk shops, thrift shops, garage and estate sales, and collectibles shows will get you -- boxes and cartons backing up drawers full of stuff. And then you realize you should have started making a written inventory of it all when you first started buying it 40 years ago ... because without a list of everything, you know about the pens you use every day and the rest might as well be piles of junk. And getting that inventory finished is going to take years of free hours here and there... It's the same process I am going through with my shaving collection. At least I had the sense to do better with my firearms...

Neal @NCoxSTL and @Edison Carter, thanks for the information about Stirling Sheep. I will have to add that one to my list of Stirling soaps to consider.

Thursday September 27 - off focus (assuming I was really on one in the first place)

A package arrived yesterday from James @jtface following a swap we did. So today's shave featured all the goodies: my first Merkur 34C, my first Astra SP blade, and my first Palmolive shave stick.

    Merkur 34C / Astra SP (1)
30DC LE maple cashmere synthetic brush
    Palmolive shave stick
    Alum and Clubman VIBR

Rubbing the Palmolive shave stick on my face provided the basis for enough lather for two passes with plenty left in the brush. The synthetic brush easily face lathered the soap into great lather. I would rate the Palmolive stick very close to the Arko stick in ease of lathering. I think the Palmolive has a better scent though and the postshave feel is not at all drying.

The Merkur 34C is a beautifully built razor and performed exceptionally well for me today. Two easy passes left me very near to BBS with dead silence from the alum. This is the first Merkur razor I have ever owned, and I can see why the company has a reputation for building excellent quality production razors. While the 34C is classed as a mild or even "beginner" razor, it performed well for me and I expect it will stay in my razor rotation.

I didn't need any face conditioning even after the alum, so the Clubman VIBR provided me with a bit of an alcohol burn and some good scent to finish the shave.

Those shave sticks are dirt cheap and top of the line soap too. Looks like a great all around shave.

You get the same formula with scent with the Electric Sheep, Glastonbury and Port au Prince. Electric Sheep is a powerful combo of menthol/eucalyptus/citronella so it's for everyone. The other two I'm just getting ready to try.

Didn't know you hadn't tried the excellent Palmolive, John...I would have sent one your way in one of our trades/exchanges. Ditto with the Astra, I only have a couple hundred of them...

I find the Port au Prince a pretty powerful scent as well. Don't have any of the other Stirling Mutton products so I can't compare it.
