Good morning.

Got a lot of ice last night. Poor dogs could barely make it across the deck to get to the yard. I actually let the older one out in the front yard so she wouldn't have to walk on the deck.

The hobby got to be too expensive, so I had to give it up...some day I'll get another one

A little slick here this morning, Matt. We don't get ice but it snowed just enough yesterday and was warm that the bottom melted and made it a little slick. Supposed to be 50's by Thursday, heck I may take the boat out.

Morning all! Wont be around for long but off running errands. Waited 2 days to shave and had a wonderful shave! Even used LaToja which doenst give me the best results but still good. Used Trumpers Sandalwood Skinfood afterwards and nice. I get awesome shaves after 2 days but its hard to pass a day. I know Ray does every other day but I just cant do it! Ya'll take care! Jerky is done but cant ship till tomorrow. Will get some pics up tonight.

 

Thanks guys (that includes you too, Jen!) I continued an experiment I have been conducting today. I used the same blade the last half of last week, and I am still using it, with superb results!! It is an ASP that I strop on my arm every morning before I use it. I do five or six strokes on each side, then flip it. Also, I am sticking with a Gillette Slim set on 5. Every shave with this blade has been with Noxzema lather shave, and every single one has been a two pass (1 WTG, 1 ATG), BBS shave. This was shave number seven. It is funny because I used to do this all the time, but for some reason did not pick it back up when I switched back to DE after years of using Rolls Razors. It will be interesting to actually document how long this will keep the edge fresh.....

 

Rolls was talking about Brut yesterday in another thread.....I was so inspired that I broke out my bottle this morning.... vedddy veddy nice. I see that I can finally post without waiting like 2 minutes between. Has been very slow for me the last few days....

rodd what are the chances of some JB weld repair to the toggle?

Morning! I thought about it, but I don't think it will work. The part(s) that broke are actually very small, so the surface area would be too small (I think)

On this picture of the rod, you can see the four corners where the rod comes up, those are the only connection.

The larger flat spot shown here doesn't actually touch the rod part. I am pretty sure these were not designed to be taken apart. I don't think I am going to try to reassemble it. It did not adjust anyway, which is why I started trying to disassemble it, and I have yet to get to the part where it is crusted together. If it had been frozen at a good setting I probably would have left it alone and used it as a non adjustable Toggle, unfortunately, the gap was about what it is when set at 1. I can't shave with a razor that mild. I will save up and find another.

 

Well that sucks..

I think I would have to try piling a lot on and then file it down when it dries.. if there is room in the tube for that without binding. But I am hard headed about things of that nature.
