Today's shave was with a "Professionally Honed" Razor. Thank you @gssixgun . I had a nice smooth 2 pass shave, with minor touch-ups around the chin, that left me BBS. This was a cheap looking "Plated Razor", but underneath the plating was a fine shaving blade, waiting to be discovered. Razor- Plated(Formerly) "Palmer 41" Chicago. Probably a promotional razor for the Palmer Hotel, in Chicago. Brush- Wilkinson Sword Boar. Made in Solingen Germany. Third shave, and only 1 hair shed. Soap- Arko/Sandalwood scented Aftershave- Shulton Old Spice
Mine is third hand and came in the mail on Friday. It is the heaviest razor I have, heavier than large Sheffield blades. It will take getting use to.
Todays shave was with an American Made razor. I had a smooth as silk 2 pass shave, that left me BBS. Zero issues, just smooooothness all over. Razor- Geneva Cutlery Corp. Geneva New York. A recipe for disaster... A natural bevel setter that I was using on a hunch that it would work + refinement on a Coticule that looked beautiful but was also a 1st use + an extended stay on a Thuri that I had only used once previously, with not the greatest results. AND to top it off I was out of my highly calibrated bevel testing device... the trusty cherry tomato ( and no back up grapes ) It turned out to be a wonderful shave! Wade & Butcher - a smaller 13/16 but the scales are what got my heart. Moral of the story... I have no idea Enjoy your shave! Tom
I am back after 2 weeks of travelling the US with 4 colleagues and three of their boys. I had a great time but it is good to be home and have a nice shave. PRC Western grind kamisori
Day 2 of the "Plated Razor Torture Test". The razor performed very very well. I had a Fantastically smooth 2 pass shave, with BDBS results. I think the more it gets stropped, the better it is getting. It was even very smooth feeling, when I shaved ATG. That is usually my true sharpness test. My skin it very sensitive. Zero complaints. Razor- "The Palmer 41" . Chicago. Brush- Wilkinson Sword Boar. Soap- Arko/Sandalwood scented Aftershave- Shulton Old Spice. Mmmmm Mmmmmm Good.
Awesome razor! Looks like you could also use it in a pinch if you lost your sword when plundering villages with Viking friends. Skol!
