A rough evening and start to the day. We have a pretty sick dog on our hands. It appears Mocha has something going on in her neck and is in a lot of pain. The vet last night said it could be a ruptured disk or cancer. Giving her meds for the next few days to see how things go. To top it off, I cut myself shaving. Not a nick mind you but a real cut that almost refused to stop bleeding. At least the shave reduced the stubble. I hope everyone has a great Tuesday.

Hoping the best for Mocha. They really become a part of the family.

I hope the next few days of meds are what it takes to make Mocha feel a little better, Clint. It was probably on your mind while you cut yourself as well.

The winner of the September 30DC PIF (over in the freebies forum) is @Spock. Congratulations, brother; both for the winnings, and for your fantastic progress with a DE over the month of September! PM me your address and I'll get the prize out to you.

A small weeper on the lower left cheek ruined what was otherwise an excellent shave this morning with the British Racing Green(Deluxe Shaving). It's the kind of soap that tells you, as you open it a few days after using it, "this has been well-used".

EDBD433C-AB83-4A03-B596-0B990B61BCFC.jpeg Interesting visit back to the OC’s in OCtober. These were some of the first razors I ever purchased, as they just looked vintage and “old timey”. Great shave from the Old Type this morning, but so far I gotta give the nod to the Tuckaway from yesterday. Yes, it’s small, but it’s such a fun razor and looks like the Great Gatsby would have used it. Maybe I need to go find a full size Bostonian before the month is out...
In other news, this SOC boar/badger is breaking in to be one helluva brush, holding its own with some of my favorites that cost a lot more. Thanks for the enabling @clint64 and @Douglas Carey!

The soap and splash were waiting in the mailbox when I got home from work. Put them to immediate use today. Loaded up a fresh blade, the no longer produced Russian Super Platinums in a Blue Pack that came via @Keithmax.
A few of you probably heard me tell this already, but I ordered the soap based on the scent I had from getting the same SV Aromatic Fern in a bar soap. Loved it. Saw @clint64 give the SS some nice reviews and there you go. The scent in the SS is exactly how I remember the bar soap, and it is quite intoxicating to me.
I started with a dry puck (rock hard, btw) and a soaked and shook out brush and took probably 30-40 seconds or so until it looked like there was a decent amount of product in the knot. Took it to the face and eventually got a very nice lather. I say eventually, as it did take a little more effort than, say, Stirling or Jeeves. I was rewarded with more than enough quality lather.
The Cooper with a fresh excellent blade lived up to its standard and 2 passes, with a little neck touch up, were all it took for me to be quite smooth. The soap performed well. It is the type of lather where you look down in the sink and see the pillows of soap still floating. It was plenty slick enough, and if I had a negative comment at all, I would say that post-shave my face felt a little drier than with some of the regular artisans I use. A splash of Witch Hazel while I cleaned up and then I applied a good sized amount of the new splash. I have a few other Reserve splashes, so I knew it was a quality product, and the scent is ok. I say ok probably in comparison to the Felce Aromatica. I would probably have a better review of the Splash later in the morning, as I only shaved about 45 minutes ago.
    Have a great day all!

I agree, Randy, about the looks of the New Improved handle. Happy hunting for a Bostonian...a New Improved has eluded me in the wild so far.

I am really sorry to hear about Mocha, Clint. I hope a few days of meds does the trick. Sorry about the cut too, but I think that's what happens when you play with sharp objects while worrying more about your dog than what you're doing...
