Thanks, guys! Please also consider this a pre-emptive thanks to anyone else who may comment. I'm trying to make the thread easier to catch up on by reducing on multiple "thank you" posts. Kind of the same idea as using your hotel towels for more than one day to save the planet. I'm TSD environmentally friendly that way. You're welcome.

Probak head mounted on Ball End handle / Astra SP ( 2 )
APShaveCo U - Brush with 24mm SynBad fan knot
    Hendrix Classics Barbershop soap
Alum and Hendrix Classics Barbershop balm test jar

For the next while, I am going to keep my brush, soap balm and also razor blade the same while I cycle through OC razors that I have rarely or never used before.

Today I stayed with the Probak but mounted the head on a longer Ball End handle in place of the New Improved Tuckaway handle it came on. I found the slimmer but longer handle made the razor easier to use. I also consciously noticed that I tend to hold the razor balanced between a couple fingers and my thumb near the end of the handle, so I now understand why the shorter handle bothered me.

As I noticed yesterday, the Probak is a surprisingly loud razor, making a rasping sound much like a Gem SE. I did 1.5 passes to a high grade DFS, with the extra half pass along my jawline.

No nicks, weepers, or blood, but the alum really stung in a couple spots today, mainly where I did two passes under my chin. I don’t think I could use the Probak as a daily driver, at least not while doing multiple passes. The Hendrix balm quietened everything down again.

I moved the blade over to the Fatip Grande, ready for tomorrow.

Chris at Razorplate did the MonoBilt I’ve shown in pics the past few days.

Funny you should ask that. As I was putting it away yesterday I noticed a hole in the middle of the knot that turned out to be a nasty tangle. It took me about five minutes to comb out and I lost a few fibers because of if. Granted it was the first time combing the knot in about six uses so if I comb it out after every use it probably wont be so bad.
    Magnificence!
They cleaned up quite nicely, John!
    Excellent shot, Perry!
Love the New LC Jim! Its showing some excellent patina!
    Beautiful shot, Jim!
Gorgeous shot, Clint! I pray that Mocha will start feeling better and that there isn't anything more going on with her.
    Very nice, Randy!
    Stunning shot, Jason!

Those look fantastic, John. A new can of Brasso is in order for the NEWs too, I think.
Tobacco Tuesday! I completely forgot, Perry. A great combo that came together in a cool pic as well.
    Great pic, Jim!
That’s the new Triple Milled version, Jim? How was it to lather?

Thanks, Jason. Yes, I think Brasso is still the best for polishing brass. And the replate on your Monobilt looks great; thanks for confirming it was done at Razorplate.

Thank you guys. My Army buddy is a K9 officer and helped us pick out Mocha and train her as a family protection dog and jogging partner for my girls. she is a great dog that has served as a wonderful companion and protector. Mocha is just about to turn 14 years old, so I am sure that has a major impact on the current situation. We are hopeful that a few days rest and the meds will reduce the inflammation and allow her to get back closer to normal.

Great photo Randy. It was amazing how the SOC mixed knot improved with break in.

Lovely photo and excellent report Jason. I add a little water on top of my SV soap while I soak the brush. It seems to make face lathering easier.

Last time I polished my NEW LC I decided to let the patina develop. It's raw brass with that reddish cap. Seeing those silver plated ones shine up makes me think about a nickel plate finish for easier maintenance.

+1! I'm inspired and will use the LC next shave.

Beautiful picture, Jason! Hopefully the splash grows on you, I really like it. The soap sounds like a winner.
