Agree on the SV soaps, Clint. I’ve also started to realize that tins or bowls that are the exact diameter and height of the soap contained within are becoming my #1 pet peeve in shaving. I need to plunk these triple milled soaps into one of my larger wooden bowls so I can load with my usual aggression and abandon...you did try to warn me about this tin in particular, Clint, but it was the best deal I found for this soap.

 

Having only experienced one scent that's so intense I'd call it a flavor, I'd gladly shop a couple more. Do you find them all to be full flavored? My sense of smell is dulled by years of exposure to work place paint fumes. Knowing there's no accounting for other's choices - do you recall if the Lime might mesh well with Pinaud Lime Sec AS cologne? I am a Patchouli participant, but there are differences in the EO depending on how it's prepared.

I hope Jeff @jmudrick doesn't get tired of me calling him up, but he's done more cap & base swapping than anyone else I've seen. He may have some insight though he leans toward "any maker but Gillette".

I was feeling green today so went with the set. I did sample a couple preshave products, but found my best service from Proraso's. Could be the glycerin since soaps and AS's that have it make my face feel good. So I applied PSS over a cool water splashed face, and loaded my brush. Face lathered in my new style for a decent lather. Not Bowl Lathered quality, but serviceable. The blade in the razor was left from some previous shave and felt fine. It made three passes plus cleanup for a comfortable error free reduction. Doubled up on the menthol post shave products. The Proraso Green splash is more minty than menthol, but using Osage first gives it a boost.

This one's tough.
Let's start with the Lime. MW=Sweet. Pinaud Sec suggests dry, BUT, I have never tried the Pinaud.
Marrakesh. You are correct. Patchouli EO is nice. I have some and use it, albeit rarely and sparingly.
Marrakesh from MW website: "Marrakesh" is my original blend - dark iron-distilled East Indian patchouli, Virginia cedarwood, cinnamon leaf, oak moss, lime and petigrain essential oils, it's a dark smoky blend that I also use in a 20% shea butter soap of the same name. Mostly essential oils with one fragrance oil component. With lanolin."

So you see, it is a far cry from what you and I think of when conjuring up our "hippie" days. (BTW, I have found that Nag Champa is closer to my olfactory memory)

Nice picture, Andrew! How many shaves do you have with the Ascension? I am going to sheepishly admit I have one enroute, as I thought I was past all my razor acquiring days. I am looking forward to trying it, but curious to see what others have to say about it.
