I have the new Flat Top knot from APS going into a handle that will be in rotation soon. I might pick up a SynBad knot at some point as well.

Nothing like a little haunted razor action for Halloween!

Ketchup as a cleaning agent - interesting! And it looks like it's quite effective too. Nice job on the razor, and I am sure your resident ghost is happier having his home spiffed up too.

Will your Halloween shave be done near midnight by candlelight?

    Razorock lc
    Rapira platinum (2nd use)
    Mountain rain by Johs
    Jayaruh #117 synthetic
    Nivea post shave balm

Mrs76 commandeered this razor from me shortly after I received it from the newbie pif ( but still buys disposables). So in the spirit of OCtober I stole it back for the evening shave. It is a very aggressive razor. I’ve used feathers, Gillette 7, cvs, and now the rapira blades in it and with every blade it has mauled me like a hungry tiger. I have tried different thickness on lather, soaps, skin stretching techniques, and different angles of stroke, and facial prep, but it still leaves me going for a different razor to finish the shave and then cleaning up before a csi van shows up from the bathroom looking like a murder scene. So I have decide to give up on trying to steal it back long term. 1E3D8C6C-B805-45AE-BF68-F0DAAD358A9E.jpeg

    Gillette NEW LC
    Voskhod (1)
    Kent BK4 Silvertip
    Tabac shave stick
    Unrefined shea butter

I switched things up for my OCtober kickoff shave. I performed a three-pass night shave on 36 hours of growth. I took a break from the LPL soap (starting to see the end of it) and used a Tabac shave stick. The Voskhod was a welcome change from the Feather Super Pro blade I used previously. My face feels great, and there's nary a nick, weeper, or boo boo. Man, I just love the New LC. The Tabac lather was as slick as a button, and I'm enjoying the lingering scent right now. I finished up with the USB, and I'm all set for a good night's sleep.

    Have a great evening, gents!

Ketchup, tomato paste, basically anything with tomatoes as they are naturally acidic. I wouldn't have thought of it either but my Google-Fu led me to it. Another possibility would be equal parts water, salt and vinegar. That one may get a trial at some point too. Midnight shave by candlelight sounds good. See if the razor will speak!

Great shave Charlie! It's nice after having a few rougher shaves to have one that's smooth and error free!

If I'm not mistaken that is a RR Jaws. Same as the Pearl OC, known to be quite an aggressive razor.

Forgiven you for the Flying Eagle - yes. Forgotten? No. You'll always live in infamy as the member here who probably set me off on my quest for the worst possible products that might produce a shave. Unfortunately, as you well know, the Flying Eagle will not produce a shave. Not even close. Of all the bad blades I've tried, the Flying Eagle still wins the worst blade competition. It's even worse than the Tiger. And that's saying something. Glad you enjoyed the Sharp Star!

Now you've done it. If you find this razor that aggressive and difficult to use without flaying yourself alive I suddenly have the uncontrollable desire to acquire one. :angry032: This may not end well.

Your right I was looking up what model it was. Jaws is quite an appropriate name for it, it doesn’t just bite it tries taking mouth fulls. Not sure how she didnt cut her legs when she has used it.

It’s probably haunted too. I used the same rapira that worked so well in the Gillette the other day. Which by the way thank you for introducing me to them it is a really good blade in my other de’s. And 45 minutes later one of the cuts is still slightly bleeding.

Razor - 1918 Gillette Old Style
    Blade - [IMG] (3)
    Soap - Fatbac
    Brush - BOS - Omega 10066
    Post - Alum

I took the entire day off from every kind of work I do and now I'm posting this early? Amazing. I think I'll just take the rest of my life off from work so I can focus on my shaving. If everyone will pledge a few thousand dollars per year I think I can make that work. No? No takers? I always knew you were a smart bunch!

Third shave today with the 1918 and Sharp Star. I decided to do an Odds & Ends soap and there's nothing more "odds and ends" than Fatbac. The combination of Mitchell's Wool Fat and Tabac produces a super slick and easy to lather soap with lots of cushion and a great mixed scent. I don't have a lot of it, as I make it out of the leftovers when I have them, so I don't pull it out too often. I do have some leftover MWF waiting now, but a lot of Tabac to go before I'll have the ratio to make some more Fatbac. I've considered buying a puck of each and just making a big tub but I haven't yet.

I went with the Omega boar brush tonight for a change. I use the synthetics almost exclusively now so it's nice to get back to a natural brush. However, I'm spoiled by the ease of loading and lathering synthetic knots. I thought I was loaded up with the smaller boar but nearly ran out of lather while getting ready for the second pass. Seriously, the brush rinse didn't produce enough extra lather to shave one cheek. Still, the lather was fantastic and slick and it was a great two pass shave. Very close to BBS and I'm a happy and satisfied camper.

I'm going on a 10.5 hour delivery run tomorrow starting at 10:30 so it will be a different pace than today for sure! Hope you all enjoy the rest of the evening and have a great tomorrow!

Fun fact - While taking a day to play around today I intentoried my Russian blades. Haven't done that in awhile. My total of Russian Steel (not counting odds and end singles) stands at 1673. I probably have about 200 more non-Russian blades judging from the look of my stash. So, I won't run out of Russians for at least a week - which means I'll sleep well tonight.

Is there something wrong with the razor or is it just naturally that aggressive? I have a Razorock TTO that is one of the roughest and aggressive razors I've ever touched. I know there's a slight problem with the scuttle on my particular one and assumed that might be the cause. Maybe it's just how they build them.
