The Haul: October 2018

A pair of new monitors from Kali Audio. Not that there was anything wrong with my old ones but the guys at JBL who engineered the M2, and LSR series which I have been using, started their own company and came out with these. I'm way past the studio monitors aren't real audiophile speakers phase of my life.

 

A Century brush. Looks like it was never used. Knot is dried and needs replacing. A nice project.

I’m diggin that handle, what a great choice!

 

Just a thought. A while back I got a vintage brush with a pretty stiff boar knot. After soaking the knot in water, I added hair conditioner to the knot and massaged it in before letting it soak in the hair conditioner. I rinsed and repeated (waiting for comments) this until it became very usable. Might be worth a try before replacing it.

 

Thanks, that's something I think I'll try. Can't hurt. Besides I really think this has not been used.

i am absolutely floored...screw the handle onto the cap,zero wobble. as new as i will ever see one..blade box unopened , 10 pack made in london england..,cellophane on cap and plate tatty but there., case has no scratches or cracks.will have to ponder this one...canada never saw these unlike the crat jrs and ttos..thank you all

I soaked the brush and used conditioner and it's just fine. It's now soft and I used it this morning! Awesome advice! Thanks.

That's all it usually takes for it to be usable. Glad it worked out for you.

 

From @COMPNOR, PIF #7 showed up today. Initial impression of the scent suggests it will be a good one to use with Pinaud Virgin Island Bay Rum AS.

Not perfect, but usable.
The clip is strong, handle fits right, blade tray looks true, and it's not to dirty.
Not sure how old it is.
I'll clean it up for friday morning. I,ll take it for a test drive, see how it runs.
