A long and eventful day. I spent nearly 12 hours doing deliveries today with my wife along for the ride. So it was actually kind of fun. We had lunch at a Chinese buffet that we love but haven't been too recently. Kind of a date in the middle of a workday. Better than the food I delivered all day. Well, with the exception of the one rib delivery.

Shave tonight - the NEW LC, Delta Echo version, is up next in line partly because so many of you started out with your Gillette News. A little NEW envy going around here. This razor was a prize won in a raffle here at TSD and I have always loved it. The New razors are just outstanding vintage shavers anyway. I have another LC still in its original gold so having this one in modern finish is a real bonus. El Caballero for the soap with the JR54 for a great lather. The Ladas blade was smooth and sharp. Gotta love Russian Steel! All in all a great shave and nice finish to the day.

The only other item in the day was a phone call from my sister that I have been expecting for some time. My mother, who twice survived Breast Cancer, who nearly died form diverticulitis after trying to power through her own treatments for it, and who has broken her hip, shoulder, outlived three husbands and basically seemed like she'd outlive the rest of us as well, passed away today. She had caught pneumonia last week and they also discovered congestive heart failure. She was 88 years old and one of the most loving and caring people the world ever knew. For the sake of transparency, my views on death are not the usual. I'm not upset nor am I feeling any great loss. I feel joy for her that she finally reached the finish line she spent her whole life striving for. And I know, as she taught my siblings and I when my Dad died many years ago when I was still young, the sun comes up every morning no matter who is here to see it. If we are one of the lucky ones to see it again - then LIVE. So, I plan to get up tomorrow and every day that I can and LIVE that day like no other. That's the greatest tribute I can think that she would like.

Wonderful shave to start the day. Two pass with touch up. DFS.

The last time I used the A&E soap I over hydrated it. I was more patient this morning and was rewarded with a rich slick lather. The scent is similar to the MLS Drunken Goat yet more subtle. The aftershave splash has a powder aspect to it which works very well with the other scents.

Prep: Cold water and Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap
Blade: vintage Personna twin
Razor: eBarbershop Type O clone
Brush: Omega 10049 boar
Soap: Mitchell's Wool Fat
Post: Witch hazel, Fine American Blend aftershave

Wonderful Fat Friday shave. I like this Type O clone more and more, and the twin blade helps ramp it up some past its mild status. Great lather and post-shave feel from The Fat and a top-notch finish from Fine's American Blend. Can't ask for much else.

We had our football game last night and the students have today and Monday off from school, but teachers have to go in for workdays. But, the activities of the workdays don't affect the fine arts folks too much, so I'm leaving today at lunch and taking Monday off. We're going to travel down to Mobile to visit the in-laws and then down to the Fort Morgan area on the Gulf Coast to visit a college friend on Sunday night. Should be fun!

Blade: Rapira Swedish Super Steel
Brush: Razorock Plissoft
Lather: Palmolive Classic Shave Stick
Aftershave: Stirling Bay Rum
Additional Care:
Stirling Unscented PSBQ

It was a nice shave with the Sheraton to start this final day of my work week. For whatever reason, it has been a long week, and I am glad to be getting to the end. With fall in the air, mainly because my wife has decorated the house as the upper 80's don't feel like it, some Stirling Bay Rum was a nice way to wrap up the shave. I hope everyone has a great Friday.
