TGIF indeed, Andrew! A great pic of Logan and an informative description on the new soap. Have a great weekend.
Thank you, Charlie! And isn't that the truth! Thanks Jason, You too! and happy Thanksgiving! Thanks, Clint!
OCtober Odds &Ends and Open Combs Sugar dish of bits & pieces soap The King badger brush Unidentified Gillette 3pc OC Pinaud Clubman AS lotion Gathering some gear to trade with one of our new 30 DC members so I needed sample sized soap containers for Tabac, Route 66, Mystic Water, & Klar. I emptied several samples from The Soap Pass Around into my Bit's -n- Pieces dish. Perfect time to use the Frankensoap for a shave! The King badger loaded easily in the moistened mix of hard and soft samples. Dipped the tips and lather came easily. Picked up this old abused DE as part of a lot from a now closed antique store. Some previous owner scratched up the razor's plating with sandpaper. Bad attempt to clean it is my guess. The base plate has no date code, only Gillette in the diamond logo and Made in USA. Standard ball handle without cracks is the saving grace. Loaded with a slightly used Rapira blade it gave a very smooth 3 pass DFS. Using the mix of soaps I couldn't pick out any particular scent. Time for Clubman and it's classic Barbershop vibe. Good Shaves Y'all!
My condolences to you and your family Neal. It's never easy when someone close passes away. I'm glad you're taking it so positively. She sounds like a wonderful woman.
Based on what I found out when researching my box of uncleaned razors this week, your razor is an Old Type manufactured between 1921 and 1929.
A lot of great reports and pics already today, gentlemen! Too many to list. (And already over 80 posts to catch up on this morning?!!) Joseph @Primotenore, condolences on the death of your uncle. You and your family are in my prayers alongside Neal's. Brian @mrchick, that's a big weekend to celebrate! Congratulations to you and yours and besg wishes to both your daughters. Travel safe! Jason @jtspartan and Perry @PLAla, I hope you both have great trips!
Friday October 5 - forgot the Fat and Fatboy... Gillette NEW LC / Astra SP ( 5) APShaveCo U - Brush with 24mm SynBad fan knot Hendrix Classics Barbershop soap Alum and Hendrix Classics Barbershop balm Good shave today. The NEW LC strikes me as a bit smoother and less aggressive than the Old Type but still efficient. One pass all over and a second just under my chin left me near BBS with only a slight warmth along the underside of my jaw from the alum. The balm settled everything down. Hope you all have a great weekend. Happy Thanksgiving! - at least to all the Canadians here, who celebrate it on the proper date...
Happy thanksgiving to the people who celebrate it early due to the stron possibility of being snowed in on nov 25!
I only unloaded the 20’ container of my favorites. The 40’ container of my spares is going to take a while.
